I'm on my third stay, and I wanted to add a note about a nice touch at checkin- I was freezing from my walk down Prince St to the hotel tonight (it's in the low 20s in NYC tonight), and I probably looked like a small icicle when I finally reached the hotel. The check in clerk asked me if I'd like a hot apple cider and gave me a cup of steaming warm cider before checking me in. ^ Great way to warm up after the freezing walk over here! I'd never seen this at a 4 Points before but if they keep it up all winter I might be over here more often. ;)

Anyone know what the approx. cost of a cab would be from LGA to here?

I took the bus from LGA to the train,and trasnfered at Penn station to the 1 line I belive That bus started out pretty empty but was absolutely jam packed as it travelled through queens!.Unfortunately I went the wrong direction on the 1 and thus had a very interesting trip to the Bronx :D
When I did get off at the right station it was a short walk to the hotel.
Took a cab back to LGA on a sunday(no traffic)and the fare was $30 with tip.

It's 1.25 blocks from the correct exit of the 1 subway to the hotel: coming from Penn station, make sure you're on the front (South) of the train and exit the Houston St station from the exit marked Varick St & King St, SW corner; it will be on the left. Walk 1 block south on Varick and take a right on Charlton; the hotel will be immediately there.

Stayed for three nights end of March. Did not get an upgrade as a Plat but I had already booked a deluxe room. Reminded me a lot of the Four Points Chelsea; tiny lobby, small breakfast restaurant behind the lobby, tall very thin building, just eight rooms on each floor. Room was fine - still pretty new and everything works but it is very compact. Just about OK for one person but it would be very small for two people. Biggest problem: No duvet (think the american name for it is a "comforter") just a sheet and a quilt.

Would stay here again if the price was significantly cheaper than any of the W's. Location OK but room size a little bit too small for my liking.

Stayed here last week for a few days. Room was okay, was given a corner room with a view of the Empire State Building. Smelled a bit when we first walked in from the bathroom and the bathroom seemed to keep smells and transfer it to parts of the room. WIFI was free but somewhat slow and there was free printing through PrintMe. Re: WIFI, could get a better speeds via my iPhone.

Now my gripes: While it's close to two subway stops, its location leaves much to be desired. There's a bagel shop nearby as noted above and a Chipotle and pizzaeria, but not much else in terms of eating out at night since these things sans the bagel shop closes around 9. Soho is a few blocks away. Bottom line: location is pretty sparse in terms of offerings.

Also, we were denied a 4PM elite check-out even after I pointed out to the fronk desk agent and the manager the T&Cs and that the hotel was not a resort or conference hotel. Both were insistent that despite what was noted in the T&Cs, the hotel was a "smaller hotel" and therefore could only give 4PM check out based on availablity. I've written in to Starwood about this one. Also, there's construction going on at a nearby building that started up about 3 a.m. Finally, testing the fire alarm at 9:30 a.m. was definitely not appreciated.

Anybody familiar with cleaners (for shirts, pants etc., same or next-day service) in the area? Google maps shows King Cleaner‎s on 6th plus Charlton Cleaners and Spring Cleaners on Sullivan as the three closest one.

Put my parents up here this weekend.
Positives- central location to Soho/ Village/ Tribeca which is what we wanted.
Clean, nice bathrooms

Negatives- Claustrophobics would have a nightmare here. Hallways are tiny- we had to squeeze around a cleaning cart that was in the hallway. Bedroom was basically the king size and a couple feet around it.
No plat upgrade, but was offered amenity at check-in.

While not a great stay, you just can't beat the price- it was $169 for a Saturday night on a holiday weekend.

I'll answer my own question: the hotel laundry service is $15 for a shirt (and am not sure if tax, delivery charges, "tip" etc. are added to it). King Cleaners on 6th at King did a superb job for a fraction of the price; their wash & fold is $17.50 up to 10lbs. Charlton Cleaners is on Charlton and 6th and, judging from the digs, is most likely cheaper and its quality ... ?

Was there recently. Nothing new; probably only thing to add to this thread is that the internet access is really crappy, measured at 0.25 M down, 0.1 M up (both wired and wireless).

Stayed here 4 nights. Much better than 4P Chelsea where I also stayed recently. Cleaner, brighter, better location, friendlier staff. No room upgrade for plat. Nothing spectacular but very good location.
