Well, I haven't had a big problem with not getting suite upgrades. And I have gotten some sweet suite upgrades. Maybe because I'm a regular at some properties.

But, I have to say the whole breakfast / lounge weaseling bothers me. And is the number 1 reason why I make sure to renew my Hilton Diamond Status first. Hilton guarantees me free breakfast worldwide. Next comes Starwood. I'm probably not even going to make any attempt to renew my Marriott status this year because they pretty much only give you free breakfast in full service hotels (but not luxury hotels) M to F unless it is a holiday (including St. Swevins day). Etc.

They have to be open 7 days a week. There are standards in place, which are proprietary, that govern what is available and when.

If anyone feels that they did not get a proper club lounge experience, the first step is to file a formal complaint with Corporate Customer Service. Once the hotel responds, if the answer does not seem right to you, send me the file number so I can take it up with the Sheraton brand compliance folks to see if it is or it isn't within their expected standards.

I stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. They did upgrade me to a suite but it was not on the club level. It was a nice room with a separate living room and tv and desk in the corner. The bedroom had its own tv. There was 1 bathroom. The room also had a nice view of the river so we were able to see the fireworks.

However, since we were not on the club level, it was a bit inconvenient to go to the club lounge. We had to ride the elevator down to the ground floor and then walk over to another set of elevators to go up to the club level.

The club lounge was packed in the morning for breakfast. But they had bagels, toast, pastries, yogurt, etc.

In the evenings, I was told that the lounge didn't have food but that the bar downstairs had food. However, I went down there and there was nothing...oh well.

They did have breakfast food laid out in the club lounge every morning including the weekend.

you have to go to the bar and ask the bartender for "club lounge appetizer" to get it

If this is the case, then the front desk staff has a core responsibility to make this clear to each club floor guest upon check-in. Guests should NOT have to guess at how club floor benefits work.:td:

It used to be that this property issued coupons at the desk at check-in for appetizers/drinks when the club lounge was closed. I think that's still how it should work.

I would think the hotel would want to give these types of coupons. If the hotel gave Plats these vouchers, it would appear they are giving their loyal customers something for their patronage (and they are!). The hotel gets a bit of "credit"/goodwill by giving these chits.

We stayed there a few weeks ago for a night. There was a big convention going on (isn't there always?) but we were still upgraded to a two-room suite on 28 (next-to-top floor) facing the river. A big plus for us (2 adults/2 kids) was the half-bath off the living room, in addition to the full bath off the bedroom. The kids only had to come to the big bath for showers. Though we asked for a rollaway at check in, it didn't show up an hour later so we had to call down and it showed up soon after.
I went down to the bar for the 'lounge appetizer' and received a fancy plate with cheese, crackers and some spring rolls and some other fried thing. It was OK, but nothing special. The breakfast is very good, even though there are no hot foods. We enjoyed a nice spread of breads/bagels/croissants, muffins and other sweets, cereals, cut melons and a bowl of berries, four fruit juices, coffee and a variety of teas. There is also a chiller full of canned sodas and bottled beverages, though it tends to get emptied out quickly so later in the day there is mostly only bottled water in it.
The lounge was renovated in the past two years and there are now several PCs, a big-screen TV, and nicely appointed furniture.

The only negative was when the 10 year old boy was crawling on the floor exploring under some of the furniture and found a white sock left by some prior guest. It was really far underneath, so not visible if not at floor level, but still not a nice thing to find. We've found much worse things at hotels, but never at this property.

I am planning to stay in Boston Sheraton for 2 nights with my wife and 2 children (under 11) in mid October (Thursday and Friday nights).

My wife is SPG member

The best cash rate I have found so far is via British Airways unless anyboy know a better option (we are flying in from London England) and we are also looking at using SPG points

Are there any AMEX platinum benefits with Sheraton hotels (such as upgrades) as all 4 of us in one room may be a bit stressful.

I am still quite new to all this - so please be gentle !

Not sure about the UK Amex Plat but the US and Canadian versions offer cardholders a comp to SPG Gold. Call your Amex CS number and ask about it. They should give you a code and then you can call SPG for the status upgrade.

It's been a while since anyone posted on this thread. Looking for recent experiences at this property. Planning a stay in or around Boston this summer, two young kids. Pretty sure I will get a suite, so interested in suite experiences too.

Does this property have wireless internet now? From earlier posts in this thread, others have said there was no wireless internet, but the hotel website says it is available for $12.95/day.

When we were there in October 2011 there was free wifi in the lobby area

A fee was payable for wifi in the room at that time

I think Gold SPG members can get free wifi in the room now as an extra benefit (but stand to be corrected).
