Nope - I sincerely wish I could do it again, or for my wife.

If I recall correctly, new cash or transferred securities worked like this:

$100K = 25K miles

$200K = 50K miles

$300K = 75K miles

All they have now is this:

What's the current status with referral for the personal card? I am tired of accumulating HH points and in my next port of call the Westin looks like a better option. If I am going to start collecting spg then I might as well go all in. TIA

Still works - and it works great! 5000 miles per referral.

If you need to get started, I can refer to personal and business!

I have been using my SPG card for all of my monthly expenses and not been receiving points since January. I have even reserved and paid for a stay at an Aloft hotel and not received any points. Is there any way to have this issue cleared?

You can try either putting in a secure message to Amex online or just calling.

Does your Amex statement show the points?

I'd just call Amex. Please tell us what they say. I've never seen that before.

does your status reset every year? Since the wording for Gold Status and Elite Status all say XX amount of days in a calendar year.

Members who are Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express cardholders start out and are maintained at Preferred Plus, unless they earn Gold by credit card spending or by staying or go on to Platinum by staying.

Hi William

Lets say I reach Gold or Plat status but then I can't travel for a year or 2. Does my status stay at what I reached? Or does it return to Preferred Plus?

Thanks

EDIT::: saw your reply in the other post. So it does have to re-activated every year. Thanks

Yes, but you are soft-landed. If you reach Platinum and don't re-qualify, you would go down to Gold. Then, if you did not re-qualify for Gold, you would go down to Preferred Plus as long as you were an SPG AMEX cardholder.

Authorized User = Hard Pull?

I recently asked for an authorized user on my SPG Amex and I specifically asked if there would be a hard pull for either of us. I was told no. However, I checked my credit report a few days later and they pulled my report (and not my AU's). I called in and they said it was because there was a fraud alert on my credit report (true - I am an ID theft victim) and that they were authorized to make a hard pull even without my consent. This makes no sense and I told them that if they don't remove it I will never be an AmEx customer again. I'm awaiting their reply. Has anyone ever had this problem?

What exactly are you asking Amex to "remove"?

I'm a little unclear as to the benefits of Preferred Plus. We recently stayed at the Westin Diplomat on Cash & Points, and when we checked in we were interested in upgrading to a balcony (you can only reserve a standard, non-balcony room with C&P). I asked if our card (Starwood Amex) entitled us to any upgrade, was told no, and she proceeded to sell us a balcony upgrade for $20 night.

Should our Starwood Amex have gotten us any sort of upgrade benefit since they obviously were available for purchase?
