Remember that if you book 5 nights you pay for 4

I didn't realize Starwood did 4/5 like Hilton does - that would make a difference. Do they have a program similiar to the AXON where if you have an AX card you get a discount on points for a 4 night stay just in case the 5th night just doesn't work because of logistics? At Hilton we can book 4 50k nights for 190k, not great but helps a bit.

I don't believe they have a program similar to AXON.

How did you redeem 5 nights at a 12,000/night property for 36,000 points? Wouldn't that have been 48,000 points?

I'm guessing, since the poster in question is SPG Gold, that s/he was using a 25% discount requalification gift.

That is correct beltway

SPG 30,000 offer

I hit the $5k spend about a month ago, and have been calling about it ever since. FInally came to find out that they didn't consider it valid because I had another AmEx account. Not another SPG account, but ANY other Amex card. Apparently some of their rules have changed. So I'm out 20,000 SPG points. :-( (They did credit me with the 10,000 on first purchase).

Why would another AMEX card make you ineligible for the bonus? I'd have them show me the terms. Never heard of this.

neither had I, but when she read the terms, they said ANY, not SPG, card.

Good to know if I plan on churning this card. I won't have another card and will wait 12 months.

If you read back, I think a pattern has been established that this is a problem for people who are prompted and sign in to their accounts when they apply. If you apply without signing in you get the bonus without a problem.

Did you sign into AMEX when you applied?

DISAGREE !! I did the above last month and got the 10k first purchase. I then chatted with Amex about the other 15K after spending $5K and was told no because I already have an existing Amex card.

I still may keep this card as my daily spender, has anyone been able to get the AF waived ?

20K arrived into my account this morning after taking out the UK card in late Nov.
