Much less then a mile, your map has you walking on Las Vegas Blvd and entering the front of the Venetian. If he was to walk, the shortest way would be to exit the Westin and cut diagonally behind the building (past the dog walking area and past employee parking in the back( and exit diagonally out on Koval a little ways down to avoid walking the corner. then once he reaches sands blvd. he can enter right at the start of it from the Sands and take the escalators right up. (approx 6/10 of mile).
If one wants to walk that 6/10 of a mile in a suit, in Vegas, in the summer heat, it sounds like that would be the way to do it. (Though I honestly cannot attest to the accessibility of the routing, but it does look like the 'World's Tallest Ferris Wheel' could be along the way.)
Personally, I will still take a cab. If yosithezet (or another FTer) would like to ride along, I'd be happy to oblige.

Considering staying here for Virtuoso travel week.
The conference is held at the Bellagio, but I'd rather not stay in the midst of all the action.
Considering Vdara because it's connected to the Bellagio...
Otherwise, wouldn't mind racking up a week of SPG nights at the West.
So, my question is, what kind of walk am I looking at to get to/from the Bellagio everyday?

It's about 15 minutes along Flamingo to Las Vegas Blvd South and another 5 minutes to walk around the lake Bellagio and up the driveway. It is exactly $7.30 by cab from the Westin to Bellagio door to door.
If you must walk: cross Flamingo directly opposite the Westin and enter the doors signed "Food Court" - this the is underground of Bally's and follow it westward (along Flamingo) and work your way through the Spa at Bally's to the pedestrian bridge which will take you into the Bellagio mall. Continue through to the casino and head towards the hotel elevators. Look for the signs to the pool and continue onward to the conference area. This might be closer to 40 minutes but is an air conditioned route. Good luck.

Easy walk from Westin to Bellagio.
Nice to be off the beaten path is a real hotel instead of casino hotel. And of course, the Westin Bed.
If you are like me (like Italian Food, lots of it, and don't mind cheap wine), try Batistas Hole in the Wall near the Westin. I have been eating there for 25 years and have never been disappointed.
Enjoy!

Walking distance/time from Westin to Caesars?
It's my understanding that you can't get SPG elite nights credit if you stay at Caesars--just points. Am I mistaken?
Thanks.

Going for Virtuoso Travel Week. Unlike my colleagues, I'm staying at the Westin, while everyone else (literally 90% of the 3,500) are staying at Vdara/Bellagio.
I don't want to be in the center of things because when I'm done at the convention, I want to go relax away from the buzz. Hoping the Westin provides that.
Will take you up on that Italian rec.

3500 delegates?!? Wow!
Agreed with dilbertsdaddy Batistas is a good eats. Do not be put off by the decor.
I was at the Westin for a few nights over july 4 th holiday....the room was not up to the usual Starwood cleanliness. The breakfast buffet was very good and staff very friendly. Just the hard product was showing some wear. Do stay at the the Bellagio one night. It really is a pleasure. Take advantage of the pool, workout area or the 7 bars\lounges overlooking the facilities.
