SFO Airport - Westin or Sheraton Gateway?

Short business trip coming up to SFO. Neither of these places gets glowing reviews on tripadvisor.com. Based on your experience, which one is better?

Personally they are both so-so, but I know some of the staff personally at the Gateway so would be so inclined to suggest the Gateway....

I prefer Westin SFO for two reasons:

Wonderful walking trail along the Bay, just across the street from the hotel, and

A splendid lap pool.

Each to their own I guess...

The Sheraton IMO has a better runnig/walking trail.

Last time I was in the Westin it was nosiy (room faced the airport) whereas the sheraton is 5 minutes further from SFO so quiet.

We've done them both. Sheraton is it. Not as much runway noise, has access to walking trail, covered parking, HAS A LOUNGE, close to Kincaid's, good staff and Sheraton Service Promise. Westin seems to always price out more than Westin. IMHO

I am pretty picky (ask anyone here) and I spent over 150 nights at the SFO Westin last year... FWIW...

Good catch. I owe you one. The Westin prices out more than the Sheraton usually.

SFO - Sheraton or Westin ?

I will be flying UA from SFO at 6 AM.

Which one is better to stay overnight and fast/reliable shuttle to the terminal (around 4 AM) ?

Westin. Very close and efficient. Comfortable bed.

I vote for Westin as well. Nice relaxing walk along the bay is at the front door. They also have a nice indoor pool. My only gripe: The outside windows are always filthy. Don't they ever wash them?

Westin. It shares a shuttle with the nearby Clarion hotel. I was there two weeks ago, and noticed that there was two shuttles. From the hotel, they first stop at the domestic gates, and then the international terminal. You'll be on the 2nd domestic stop.

We liked the Westin.....had an early flight and we left at 3 am. The shuttle ran soothly, it had us and about 3 flight crews on it at that time of morning. I usually assume that if the airlines use the property it must be capable of getting you to and from the airport pretty easily.

Westin is nicer. Shuttle access is slightly closer.

But if you are SPG-Plat, you may expect club level floor and lounge at Sheraton. Sheraton has better bay view, half the chance at Westin.
