Moxy Pompeii [Master Thread]
Surprised there's no thread for this hotel already. And since my stay is over I don't have any pics to add. Sorry in advance.
Pros:
- 25 minute walk to the main entrance of the archeological area of the ruins
- New property, very clean
- Superb front desk staff
- Right next to the largest mall in southern Italy with 30+ restaurants and 150+ stores
- 25 minute walk to Pompei Scavi (circumvesuvia train station right next to park entrance) - to get to Sorrento or Naples
Cons:
- The walk from Torre Annunizata Centrale is typical southern Italy - barely any sidewalks, potholes everywhere, good luck finding a taxi (I didn't look hard tho as I planned to walk)
- The windows in the rooms just do not close. The building is brand new and I don't get this. The road noise is LOUD. The fountain music in the room I was originally assigned was just downright awful.
- Shower pressure wasn't good
- This place is def one of the furthest from the ruins in terms of a walk that I would want to take. it's not a nice walk but it's not like it's dangerous. And you're on the wrong side from the City of Pompei.
Unknowns:
- I didn't hang out in the lobby but every time I walked through it was dead. I was told only 20 rooms were occupied while I was there. Granted, it's super low season there so no surprise.
- Can't comment on the breakfast offerings but this place seemed tried & true standard Moxy vibe including games in the lobby, room size, amenities (or lack thereof) in the bathroom, no desk, etc.
I would stay again if I were going back to Pompei but to me it's a one & done. I will hike Vesuvius next time when the weather cooperates so maybe I would stay just for that. Easy bus ride from Pompei Scavi train station.
