FAQ : online Marriott Bonvoy points transfer errors and problems
 
I am trying to transfer points online but it throws up an error everytime.
Doesnt mention what the error is.
I have not exhausted my transfer limit as well.
I tried calling them but they said they cannot do it on call anymore now.
Kindly help , need to transfer it on urgent basis.

My best guess is that you are not typing in the recipient's name exactly how it is recorded on their Bonvoy account.

The Lurkers will not be able to help here. This is only something that can be done over the phone or through the new tool. Additionally, if you do it over the phone, it takes up to 7 days to process.

Is that a recent change? Every time I have called to transfer points in the past it happened instantly.

I just had the same error, did you put in the number of points to transfer rounded down to the next thousand?
That's what made it work for me.

running into the same issue, an error without any further details. Were you able to resolve it?

Points transfer between members error
 
Trying to transfer a small number of Bonvoy points to a family member. Both accounts have been around for years with recent activity and the max has not been exceeded this year, yet I keep getting an unexplained error with no further details. I was successful transferring point to that account in the past. Any suggestions?

Customer support will assist you to open a case and forward the request of transfer to the appropriate team to review.

In protection of your account, some transactions take additional processing time. Please allow up to 7 business days for the team to review this transaction.

I was running into the same error message when trying to transfer points and I was told its because you can only share points twice in a month.

yeah, there seem to be additional issues and issues likely caused beyond the posted limits. Let's see if things work again in May.
