Availability Booking with points and then not being able to….
Greeting,
I don’t post often, but am real and not a bot!!
Need some feedback please-
I’ve been on phone with Bonvoy the last two days.
I’m trying to book a room for one night in October with them.
For three days now they show available hotels (in area I’m looking) with points redemption availability. One of them has even had the points level fluctuate! However, when you go to click on it and begin the booking process it doesn’t offer you a points option - only a cash option.
l called first time and got an apology and associate even gave me 2k Bonvoy points for their mistake.
I called again the next day when I saw the point fluctuation and this associate was rather cold.
I’ve never seen this happen before.
If they offer you option to book with points,
I’ve always been able to proceed with the booking.
Thank you to all for reading!

Agreed. Try the app first. If that doesn't work let us know the date and property and we can see if we can duplicate or solve the issue

that's exactly what a bot would say.
so what was the result when you called, did they book or not?
have you tried different broswers or the phone app? do you have ad blockers on your browsers or any cookie blocking software? i'm just wondering if the site doesn't realize that you're logged in when you're trying to see the points price.
or did you get the booking and then see a lower points price? if so, then open your booking and use the "change/modify booking" feature to get the lower points price. you'll keep the same room and just get the points credited back to your account. i've done that very often. I also screen shot every page along the way. standard operating procedure for everything i do online these days.
and as out of my element says, name the hotel and dates and others here will try to replicate the problem. that will tell you whether it's just your browswer/app/account or whether it's on the bonvoy side.

no bot here - thanks for your help. I came here to search for info on this, didn’t see any so I started a new thread.
thank you!!

I just tried. I am seeing the same behavior you are on the website. In the app, it brings up cash rates instead of points rates. Since Lexington, KY appears to have high rates in general that night, I suspect there must be a special event in the area and you maybe out of luck. Last time I saw similar behavior is when I was booking rooms for the Boston Marathon last year. Some properties would consistently show as available on points during the general search and then once I selected them, no award rooms were available. I never did figure out the cause. We wound up making different arrangements and it became a moot question. Good Luck! If you do figure out the root cause, please share it here.

Update..
Thanks for your replies and help.
I’ve stayed diligent and finally got one to go through. A new one - of all things.
I got residence inn Lexington city center for 42,000 points.
Now, as a titanium, should I be expecting a thanks for booking but we’re sorry to tell you you don’t actually have a reservation message from Marriott ?? I ask, because as I’ve stated, I haven’t seen this occur on Bonvoy / website app before. Where they show properties available with a listed Bonvoy point total for booking and then don’t allow you to book it with points. Thanks for the input/help.

It's all held together by duct tape and string until Marriott modernizes their CRS from its current 1984 design.
