Chase Marriott Boundless $5K Spend for Elite Night Question
I am currently forecasting to be 1 night short of re-qualifying for Titanium by end of year (no open dates to do a mattress run, as I will be actively spending nights at some Marriotts already)
I have the Chase Marriott Boundless card where there's a benefit for every $5K spend you receive an additional elite night credit. My statement period closes on Dec. 22nd.

- When you hit $5K spend, do you know if Chase deposits the elite night credit immediately or is it every statement close date? (i.e., if I don't hit $5K spend until Dec. 23, did I miss my window to get the elite night credit deposited for 2022?)
- Are there stipulations on what the $5K can't be spent on? (i.e. Can I buy Marriott e-gift cards to manufacture $5K spend or will this not count as spend?)

Went digging on Chase's site for the fine print on the benefit. Based on the below I'm interpreting as an e-gift card would count.
1 Elite Credit for Every $5,000 Spent:
You will earn 1 Elite night credit for each $5,000 in Purchases. Purchases are when you, or an authorized user, use a card to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds. Buying products and services with your card, in most cases, will count as a purchase; however, the following types of transactions won't count and won't earn points: balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable. We have the right to determine which purchases qualify for this offer. We reserve the right to change or end this offer at any time. There is no limit to the number of Elite nights that you can earn. Please allow up to 8 weeks for Elite nights to be credited to your Marriott Bonvoy® account from the last day of each calendar month you qualify. To qualify for the Elite nights, your account must be open and not in default at the time of processing and fulfillment. Chase is not responsible for offer fulfillment or the provision of or failure to provide the stated benefits and services.

For those who pay taxes to the United States, I have found year end to be an excellent time for making an estimated tax payment on a Marriott Bonv∘y credit card, and earning the requisite Elite Qualifying Night(s) (EQN) to attain Titanium Elite status. One can get any excess back in a few months as a tax refund.

I will have enough spend on the card by 12/31/22 to receive two additional elite night credits. My statement closes 1/3/2023. I am currently one night short of Titanium. Any experience on whether these two nights will credit to 2022 or 2023 counts when they get posted sometime in January? I can do the one night to reach Titanium with a cheap pointsaver stay but wanted to see if anyone ran into this December timing before I burn the points. Thanks!

Chase support is telling me that since my statement closed December 8th, Dec 9-31 are considered 2023. I wish there was a prior year of this to base experience on - perhaps someone on here has one of the other legacy cards that confer elite nights (I believe both the old business card and the legacy Bonvoy card both have this feature?)

Bumping this as I have the same question. Want to put $15k in tax on for 3 nights today, but statement close is Jan 8th. Will they be 2022 elite nights or 2023?

"the Elite nights earned from purchases made in December won't be applied until January. December 2022 Elite night credits earned won't be considered for 2022 Elite night credits earned count when determining 2023 Elite night status level."

My statement close is 1/3 and this is the response I received from Chase and appears to correlate to what you were told.

Confirming for future reference that Elite Night credits from December spend accumulate in the new year bucket (Dec 2022 spend updates 2023 EN count).

I have 3 nights left for Platinum, and my statement cycles 12/9. So I'm thinking time to put 15k spend oh the card before then to top off.

How do you all know how much more you need to spend to get your next elite night credit? Does Chase provide that information on your statement? Without keeping track of one's cumulative spend from day one, is there any way of knowing?

Your best bet is to export all your transactions and sum it up, minus fees ($95). It's pretty easy to do through the site of the app. Use Google sheets or excel. All spend values are negative but be sure to include credits (positive numbers e.g. returns) and exclude payments (also positive numbers - I just delete those cells)
