Redemption Rates

Hi all,

Does anyone know if redemption rates include breakfast, or is it dependant on the hotel? I can't see any mention of it in the rate so im assuming not?

Thanks,
Anthony

Gold Elite does not get breakfast at full service properties. Many other properties serve breakfast to all guests.

Typically redemption rates are room only and people rely on their status benefits, if any, for breakfast.

There are some hotels where this won't apply, and breakfast is included as everyone gets it when booked through all channels:
  • Where the brand offers everyone "breakfast" (see this list here: https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/t...8-major-hotels which I think is accurate): Residence Inn by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Fairfield by Marriott, and TownePlace Suites by Marriott.
  • It could be any hotel, but I see more for Autograph or Design hotels where it is part of the standard offering in their country - this will be specified in the rate details, explicitly saying "breakfast included". More likely to be international properties
  • For a very small number of all inclusive properties where your points buy the whole package

not for award stay if the rules did not change over the COVID period.

I redeemed before with Element, during check-in, it was specifically mentioned that breakfast does not apply to award stay.

An admittedly cursory look at the website says breakfast is complimentary for all regions except Asia Pacific. It didn't suggest that award stays were another exception. This is consistent with my own experience. I've stayed at an Element several times on award stays and have always received breakfast. In fact, I can't think of any stays at a Marriott hotel family where my perks/benefits, whether for everyone or a status perk, depended on whether the stay was an award stay or paid in cash. I suspect that either your Element was simply noncompliant or the FDC was mistaken.

sorry if I generalize it. I stayed in an Element in Asia Pacific. Maybe that's the reason.

Yes. Asia/Pacific is the one specific excluded region for the Element brand.

Nor does Fairfields in Asia if I remember correctly.
