Regular to Madrid and just completed my first stay at the EDITION. Loved the location, the staff, and the rooms are just beautiful. Was upgraded to a Loft room (with a view of Plaza Descalzas) after booking the basic level room for about €460/night. Will return as the location and sleep quality really can’t be beat.

We are a family of 3 with a teenager traveling to Madrid. We are considering either the Westin (recently renovated) or the EDITION. For those with experience with both of these hotels did you have a preference? how does the location for each compare? How were the rooms? We are platinum members but as I understand it the EDITION will not offer breakfast included unless we book throughs STARS or FHR? Thanks for your thoughts.

Do you like the EDITION brand, aesthetic, and smell? If so, no-brainer in my opinion. EDITION location is fantastic. If you scroll up a little, you'll see several posts with photos of different types of rooms - my post is from November 2023.

EDITION has a good pool and a pool table in the lobby, if your kid is into that. Restaurants and bar are good. And to be fair, back when I did stay at the Westin before the EDITION opened, their breakfast was good and they had fantastic Iberico on the menu in the evening. But the rooms were a little cookie-cutter.

Applied NUAs to suites but no dice. Upgraded at check-in as a Titanium LT to a Premier King with Plaza Descalzas view.

Good stay although I find the €150/night pre-auth for incidentals a bit too high.

Room rate of 310 + tax pretty good for an Edition. Def more of a summer hotel.

Welcome sweets and personalized handwritten letter in room.

Just back from a 6 night stay at the Madrid Edition. It was really fantastic. The European Marriotts seem to be much better than US locations. I am a lifetime Platinum, so have seen quite a few properties in the US.
The location of the hotel is great and there are plenty of places to eat and shop in the area. Site seeing is easy to have this place as your base.
The concierge was fantastic and helped us find whatever we needed.

We had room service one night, and was delivered promptly, and served hot. Great experience.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We recently completed a two-night stay, booked through FHR, and had an excellent experience. A significant benefit was the ability to check in very early, which was greatly appreciated. We also received a welcome room upgrade and utilized our credit at the pool bar.

A notable observation was that Jeronimo has been replaced by Scarpetta, a restaurant chain originating from NYC; breakfast service, however, remains in that location.

The pool bar's bev

erage selection was somewhat limited. We found a suitable alternative by sourcing some preferred wine selections from Oroya to enjoy poolside. The pool itself was a highlight, proving particularly beneficial during an extended period of high temperatures.

Overall, our stay was highly enjoyable. The service and attention from the staff were consistently excellent, contributing significantly to a positive visit.

Another good stay, 2 nights. Applied NUA’s but denied; Madrid Pride. Pool seats were about a 1 hour wait but once you got one, it was excellent.

Upgraded to Premium plaza view. Room clean and functional with welcome chocolates. Room wasn’t ready until 5pm but they gave me a free cocktail at the bar as I waited.

Great hotel in the summer.

What is so special about the Loft rooms? Are they all on one level, it appears that way on the website, despite their name?
Do the suites have sliding doors between the bedroom and living area? or is it all one open-plan area?
Is the nightclub in the basement part of the hotel? Can you charge drinks to your room there?

Would not recommend this hotel. Would instead recommend The Palace (Luxury Collection, formerly Westin) which is overall much nicer, and has lower rates.

I am generally a fan of Edition hotels and their designs, however this one is extremely cheaply furnished with every surface in the room chipped or marked in some way.

Did not receive any form of room upgrade, despite being Titanium, staying for only one night and the hotel was not busy (off season, late March). The base rooms decor resembles a mental asylum. Bedding quality was austere, with the quilt being best described as the complete opposite of plush. Welcome amenity was three slices of cheese and less than one piece of toast sliced up.

I believe the main restaurant is undergoing renovations, and therefore breakfast was instead served in a windowless dungeon (possibly a nightclub). The nausea inducing lighting was only made worse by perhaps the worst breakfast spread I have seen in a luxury hotel globally, with minimal continental or hot options (although I will caveat this by saying the fruit was good quality).

The rooftop pool however is very nice, although unheated. The spa facilities (sauna / steam room) are also strong. Service was consistently friendly and proactive. No issues with 4PM check out.
