Upon checking more closely, that notice is only present on the app and absolutely nowhere on the desktop website. Most people do not book using the app. A swing and a miss by Marriott. i haven't used them enough to know, but maybe their IT/IS just sucks.

You mean this notice on the desktop website:

And you know this HOW?

Nothing bugs me more than people making stuff up to fit their narrative.

Marriott proudly announced last year that their direct bookings had increased to 32%, the highest ever! That means 2/3 of bookings are through TAs (which is a whole other issue for communication - not going there).

Did Marriott just quietly devlue its covid-19 cancellation flexibility policy ?

Why did no blogs report about this ?

Marriott's covid-19 cancellation policy. now says: "For guests making new reservations on or after July 6 for arrival dates through September 30, we will allow the reservation to be changed or cancelled at no charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled arrival date"

Before it used to say new reservations can be cancelled and refunded (regardless of rate booked) for any future arrival date.

Sorry if this has been discussed and answered, but have not been able to find anything similar.

i just canceled a cruise that is winding up in Dubai in November. When I went to cancel my reservation, that I made back in January I discovered the rate has a full cancellation payment for all 3 nights. I never book prepaid rates, but must have done so without knowing it.

my Amex was never charged. Do I have any remedies or am I out of look for the $700.00. Will it help to call Titanium desk?

Thanks for any h elp

i called Marriott reservations and they said rate was AAA rate and could be canceled. Which they did.

However reservation is still showing in my trips. But I have an email confirmation of cancellation

I know there are no guarantees of amenities being open or elite bennies being offered right now, but does anyone know/have an educated guess/experience on whether SNAs are still being applied? Have a stay coming up with 5 SNAs requested, and haven't read anything on whether those are still being processed or not (and I can still apply them to my reservations, but we know with Marriott that isn't dispositive).

Yes they are being processed. I've cleared at two properties (Essex House, Phoenician) over the past month.

Thanks, that's good to know.

I just finished staying in multiple Marriotts across the country on a roadtrip, and I found out at the end from a front desk staff at a Marriott in Michigan that Marriott requires its US employees to wear masks. Is this true? Many/most of the hotels I stayed at (most of which are from Idaho to Iowa) had very lax mask policies for its employees.

I'm not interested in a political debate about whether masks are good or bad. Just curious about actual Marriott policy.

There has just been an announcement from Arne Sorenson on Marriott's new policy to wear face masks inside hotels starting July 27. Official announcement here.

In his announcement Sorenson introduces many times the words 'United States' and once mentions 'nationwide'. It is not really clear to me though whether the policy will apply to all properties worldwide, since many frequent flyer blogs mention 'worldwide' in their headlines.

Bonvoy's Twitter account refers to US/Canada:

I am not looking into provoking any type of discussion regarding health risks or effectiveness of face masks, but being a non-native English speaker, living in a country with exactly 0 Covid-19 cases and 2 Marriott properties I am just wondering if you have any ideas on if this announcement applies to all properties.

From franchise properties I'm in contact with masks are not provided for most employees - up to franchisee.
