It worked perfectly for me because one of my primary objectives was snorkeling the house reef and I loved the easier swim access due to being further down the jetty and on the sunrise side. You can mostly walk to the reef at low tide.

I would classify myself as a strong swimmer overall, but I swam every day at different times and didn't find it difficult to get to/around/back from the reef under any circumstance. I did not wear a lifejacket because I like to free dive when snorkeling. I have seen articles/commentary from others who went in September/October say that the currents are potentially stronger then. I went on several scuba dives up to about an hour's boat ride away and didn't experience any particularly challenging current conditions during my time in early Feb.

If you don't like the idea of swimming to the house reef yourself, you can pay for one of their boats to take you and to have a guide.

If you prefer shorter walks to the restaurants, being closer to land might be preferable. Tabemasu and Riviera (Riviera is the adults only option) are right by the end of that jetty. I didn't mind the walk and also rented a bike for a few days I was there, and enjoyed being using that as well.

Of course you can call for a buggy, but I can't really speak to wait times since I almost always walked or biked unless a buggy happened to be available when I finished at Velaa or Turquoise as those are farther away from the OWVs on the Tabemasu jetty. The buggies can be pretty noisy going over those wooden planks, so I think being toward the end of the jetty limited the frequency of some of that.

Here are some views at various times of day from the "worst" sunrise OWV 🤣

As far as occupancy, the pontoon seemed pretty full and if you didn't make reservations at Velaa in advance (day before), then you were out of luck for dinner. I tried to make reservations the day before for all dinners and was able to make one for my arrival day by messaging the reservations team from the seaplane etc. confirmation emails before I arrived. As others have mentioned, dining around sunset hours is popular. I think Velaa in particular stays booked since it and Turquoise are the dinner options for full and half board plans. Tabemasu was not as crowded on the two nights I dined there. Riviera stayed busy during lunch through sunset as it's in a perfect sunset location, but I didn't go there much after dark.

It is hard to say how many of the beachfront villas were occupied since they are pretty ensconced in the foliage, but I did see people being dropped off at them. There are also a few of those part land/part overwater villas on the opposite side of the island to the Tabemasu pontoon, and I did note that at least one of them was occupied when I was walking around.

Have been reading quite a bit about dining place getting booked up in advance. By now the resort should have figured out some way out to reduce, if not solve, this problem. 'Out of luck' for dinner sounds a bit extreme!

Is anyone able to give an update on the situation regarding the Green Tax since the one and only post on the subject is from September when the resort had just opened.? Is it being charged or not?

My email confirmation shows $6/person green tax per night.
Layla from Rservations at LM just confirmed over phone that the $6/pppn Green Tax is not charged on Award bookings. Small amount, but no harm knowing.

Out of luck in that your only option would be Turquoise if you're on the full or half board meal plans as those are the only two places included for dinner on those plans. Turquoise was always available, but Velaa was the much better dinner option between the two, in my opinion.

Been checking the menu of both Vella and Turquoise and I find very limited options for vegetarians like us. I wonder how great a value is a meal plan for vegetarians.

Has anyone used the Luggage Storage Service at Male airport? Since weight requirements seem fairly strict for seaplanes, it seems like it would be a great option to leave excess bags at the airport if it's reasonably priced. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences or thoughts.

The guy that works at the gym is awesome. He does a tough boot camp/tabata/pilates workout 3 times a week. Burpees at 8am in the tropics outdoors! Afterwards he gave me a mean stretch of my tight muscles, like what a physio would do with their pro athletes.

Good punching stick I practices Krav maga on

Adequate weights with multiple plates of 20kg

4 plates of 20kg here at least

Yes no problem, I used it in 2020 (right after the airport exit door in the left side).
I don't remember the price, but it was clearly cheaper than the excess luggage fee from the the seaplane company.

As of now I'm headed to LeM in April, but wonder if I should go back to the Westin...keep us all posted!

If I go to LeM I'll share a comparison here as well.
