In a new guarantee situation over the welcome gift. Presently staying at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver. At check in, the agent informed me that because I was staying on the Casino block rate that I wasn’t entitled to any of my elite benefits and that they gave me an upgrade, which I had bitterly fought for, as a courtesy (as opposed to me being a Titanium guest with SNAs). The explanation didn’t sit well with me as I had received breakfast on past stays using the same rate. I said nothing after the initial exchange, but went down this morning to invoke the guarantee. The property is now “investigating the situation,” but it looks like I’ll have an additional CA$128 in my pocket by the end of business.

I have not had any issues with late checkout, most of my issues have been with early check-in. I miss the MY24 which has been suspended/ revoked, but still like to check in during a lunch break or before I head to my meeting.

Heading back to Vancouver in the later part of February for another "Domestic" break! Stayed at the JW in November and really liked it plus the Casino is a bonus for me as I have missed probably 6 Vegas trips. Forgive my ignorance but what is the Casino block rate?

I wouldn't hedge my bet.. maybe you got lucky getting breakfast on your last stay but if that rate is not an eligible rate for benefits the property is correct. How did you book the rate out of curiousity?

I thought that stays under group room blocks are generally not eligible for elite status credit nor elite status benefits, but booked room rates under a group block code would still be an eligible rates for that if booked individually.

I've always received elite benefits on conference room blocks, but I avoid the website that some meetings use because no one seems to know for sure whether they're eligible bookings.

Booked on the Marriott website using a code.
