Provo, Utah Marriott [Master Thread]
Surprised there wasn't a thread on this property. Staying here now for a conference at BYU. Just fine, arguably nice full service Marriott. Would stay again.
Pros:
-free parking in adjacent covered garage
-decent club lounge & very friendly lounge attendant
-hotel bar is one of the very few places in town that allows you to have alcohol without ordering food; still subject to Utah's 1.5/2.5-ounce rules
-coffee in lobby also important, no coffee on campus at BYU
-laundry prices are cheap for hotel ($2.65 for a dress shirt; $7 to dry clean a sport coat)
-location is excellent for the "downtown" restaurants (with the conference, we ate at Good Thyme and Black Sheep; would highly recommend Black Sheep)
-rooms in the North tower are spacious -- didn't get a suite upgrade but the regular King room (might be a "larger king" room) is perfectly nice for 4 nights, has fridge/freezer combo and microwave too
-room & lobby are aesthetically appealing; doesn't feel dated
-pool/whirlpool is open until 11 p.m.
-20mbps down/5mbps up wifi at 6 p.m.
Cons:
-you have to go outside to get into the garage, the garage fills up at night, and the elevators to get up and down within the garage are very slow
-laundry has to go out before 8:30 a.m. and doesn't come back until as late as 8 pm
-housekeeping is spotty, didn't replace the room service breakfast form one night, unclear how often they change linens, etc.
-bathroom is tiny, no shave mirror

I have an upcoming trip here for six nights. I have a choice of a room on the floor with the lounge or in the other tower in a "deluxe" room (about 30 sq ft bigger, different layout, but I can't find a photo). Does anyone who has stayed here have a recommendation?

There's also a Courtyard that's closer to campus. Alcohol is available in the restaurant/bar or through room service, although a minimal food order is required.

Just completed 1 wk stay over Thanksgiving. Excellent service from staff (well, the hotel was mostly deserted). Got upgrade to Concierge Level room, which was of mixed use considering Thanksgiving lounge closures (no lounge Thursday, late open Friday and Monday). Got breakfast certs for most days, plus took $10/day F&B voucher. They showed me another room option in the small tower (see post #2 above), but it had no view of the mountains but had a small kitchenette. Took the 9th floor room with the great view. Enjoyed the stay. Only complaint is that the Fitness Center desperately needs an update. Of the five treadmills, two were out of order and the others were the old type with several (but not all) of the hotel TV channels, which didn't help much since the audio didn't work on two of the machines. Other than that, this is a great hotel to stay at when there isn't a conference going on.
