Exactly why it is a smart move. People who bailed due to merger frustrations or whatever may look to come back.

I wonder why there's no expiration date anywhere in the mobile app or on the website. Has Marriott started "dynamic status expiration?"

FYI- In the Loyalty terms & Conditions; in the elite membership- 4.2b -it says Jan. 1- Dec. 31 of any given year. ALSO- 4.2.f. ii Quote - 'Lifetime PP (now Lifetime Titanium Elite) status also ended Dec. 31 2018'

If you get matched to United Silver you are Titanium this year.

Yesterday I tried to match, there was a message I can match only after 28.02.2019 . Today I matched to United Mileageplus Silver, so this means I stay Titanium this year (did Marriott Platinum challenge last summer).

I noticed the United Silver match too. Mine is automatically re-matched through 2020, which may possibly mean my Titanium status is also valid until Jan/Feb 2020? (though I do expect a downgrade to Platinum this year tbh, as I did the platinum challenge back in 2017 summer...)

So it's March 1st - who lost their status? I didn't yet I didn't earn Platinum last year either so what gives? I last earned it in 2017 - I fell 10 nights short last year in 2018. I thought I'd lose it today.

Give it a week or so... and if it sticks, it sticks. Either way you will see a thread on excitement or disappointment.

Same. Status maintained for now. Did you match United Silver before? If so, is it renewed till next year? My guess is we may assume this year's Marriott tier by looking at matched United Silver expiry date (i.e. if it's renewed till 2020, one should stay Titanium till 1/2020).

No, I did not match United Silver so don't have that data point. So you're thinking that we'll have this Plat status through 2019 entirely then?

I am in this camp and thought such things would be clarified today.

I need to know soon what is going to happen because if I lose PT then I am going to burn points and look around. However, if I keep PT I will change points reservations to paid reservation and try to requalify for next year.

Expected DW's status to disappear today but no, it hasn't changed. Given their poor IT dept. it may take a few days.

Same for me, although i didnt re-qualify as a Titanium Elite, Marriott kept me at that level.

Not complaining however.

Is it possible that this year's soft landing is you get to keep your previous higher status to compensate for all the screw-up by Marriott IT?
