Hi NoviceFT,

The temporary status does not count as elite year if the Member fails to meet the required thresholds during the offer dates to earn and retain the status.

Is there a progress bar where I can keep track of the challenge?

I enrolled recently and stayed for two days. The nights and points have been credited to my account, but I cannot figure out whether they count towards my challenge.

You could ask them on the messenger app (Facebook). There’s no dedicated section on the Marriott app. If it’s a paid night, it should be counted.

Thanks. I'll shoot them a message. I'll have a few upcoming stays as well. I'll chase them once I finish my 16 days.

status duration after challenge (platinum)

I am about to finish my 16 days platinum challenge (stared on Oct 11th) w Bonvoy. I have done 14/16 nights. Is there any point to hold off completing the 16th night till early January? If I complete in January will I get the platinum status for the current year (2025) plus the following (2026) plus the jan&feb of 2027 or am I just gonna get 365 days since completion? I am w Hilton and the the rules might be similar - when I gifted my honors status to my brother he said it was only good for 365 days since the day it was gifted rather than the current plus next year. Can't find any clear information about this. Thank you.

Marriott does offer status challenge that can be done every 3 years. Does anybody know do they define these 3 years period? Like 3 calendar years or 36 months?
e.g. last time I did challenge was July 2023, would that mean that the next time I can do challenge shall be January 2026 (counting 3 calendar years) or August 2026 (counting 36 months)?

I would also like to know. The last time I did a status challenge was almost 7 years ago. I'm currently a Platinum, but I'll lose my status on March 1st because I didn't put in the nights in 2024. Will I qualify for the status challenge starting from March 1st?

Hi lsquare,

It depends on the offer the member participates in. For NoviceFT, it was 15 eligible paid nights in 3 months.

So using that example, I'm assuming NoviceFT would earn 2 years of Platinum if he fulfills his terms since he'll have status for this year and next year?

Just signed up for the Plat challenge, there's just a detail to note, as a LT anything, there seems to be a requirement to change one's email address before they can register us for the challenge (or maybe also because I did a challenge as well a couple years ago?).
Anyway, it was done easily calling the hotline (Switzerland).

Hello,

I wanted to register for the Platinum Challenge (16 nights in 3 months) via phone. The agent told me she gets an error message because my account is not seen as qualifying yet as I do not have any nights or purchases yet. So she told me I should just buy 1.000 Bonvoy Points and then it will work. I did that (bought 2.000 for the 35% bonus) immediately but then when she tried again, she still got the error message. She talked to colleagues and then said the system probably needs some time to see the account change and I should call again tomorrow. Now I did a quick online research and lot of people say you need at least 1 night in your account. If that is true then I just wasted $25 based on the wrong information of the agent.

Can anyone confirm if having at least 1 night in your account is really a requirement? If that's the case, I'd want my money back...

Hi all,

I am currently doing the platinum challenge, started mid-January, so have until the end of April to do 16 nights. I am currently sitting on 12 nights during the period. I wanted to check if there are any implications to completing the 16 nights before the status reset on March 1st? ChatGPT told me that if I complete the challenge before the status reset, I will only have status until end Feb 2027, whereas if I complete the challenge after March 1st, I will have until end Feb 2028. Does anyone have any experience of this?
