Hi jayech,

Status Challenges do not show under your promotions. You should receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of enrollment. If you don't see it, you may wish to check your spam filter as they can end up there. If need assistance verifying your enrollment or checking your progress, please send a Private Message with your full name, the email address associated with your Marriott Bonvoy account, and the location and approximate dates of a recent past stay.

Thanks,

What is the reason for Platinum challenge when you can get there by a credit card?

1) The credit cards are not available in all countries.
2) Many people pick up paid night on company dime.

3) Some people do not want to spend $695 annually for an 85K-point certificate that is far higher than the point level normally, if ever, redeemed.

I'd add to that that the Platinum status from a credit card is only available (to my knowledge) in one country out of 195 in the world representing about 5% of the global population and even in the US there will be plenty of people who will naturally stay the required nights for the challenge without having to hand over a subscription fee to Amex.

I just called to sign up today, and the Marriott Bonvoy agent told me that they don't send email confirmations but that it would show up in Promotions

Thanks, jayech. No confirmation via email nor on my promotions page. I'll do the same and call in. Thanks!

Good luck with your challenge!

Can you merge an old account to a new account with an ongoing status challenge or is it recommended to wait until after the challenge is completed?

Completed my stays for the challenge and nights posted on account. How long does it take for the status to update?

Marriott status match challenge

Hi All, can anybody advise on if this is possible?

I've been loyal to Hilton the last few years but have had a few very disappointing recent stays, so looking to move.

Currently on 99 nights for 2023, and stay between 150-200 nights a year.

I called the Bonvoy number but can't get past the drone reading from a script. Also tried with Hyatt and IHG and no dice. Are chains really at a place where they turn away a possible 200 night per year customer with an expense card? I have 40+ nights booked with Hilton in the next 3 months that I'd be willing to switch to an alternative chain immediately.

Live in Malaysia and travel is split 60/20/20 between Asia, US and Europe.

Appreciate any insights or even better an email to somebody who understands the economics of it, and can make the decision.

You can apply for the Platinum Elite challenge, stay 16 nights within 3 months of registration

IHG had challenge promotion back in April. If you are Chinese ask on Flyertea.

Personally, with that number of stays I'd probably try to get elite at two chains. Hyatt is great at the Globalist level (60 nights) but their footprint is much smaller than IHG or Marriott. I'd recommend doing the Marriott Platinum challenge mentioned above and try to get Hyatt Globalist if possible because I think they have the best elite treatment in North America (waived resort and parking fees on award stays, etc.)
