PATHWAYS TO LIFETIME PLATINUM PREMIER ELITE STATUS:

1. Legacy Marriott Lifetime Platinum - 750 [MR+SPG] nights & 2MM Marriott Rewards points earned - not available after 1/1/2019
2. New Combined Program - 750 [MR+SPG] nights & 10 years combined/total as Platinum members previously under MR and/or SPG as of 12/31/2018 - not available after 1/1/2019

From members.marriott.com:

NOTE: Members that reach 750 nights and 10 years at Platinum by December 31, 2018 will be grandfathered into Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite status (notified January 2019).

FAQ from members.marriott.com

Q: CAN I EARN LIFETIME STATUS UNDER THE LEGACY REQUIREMENTS (ACTIVE PRIOR TO AUGUST 2018) FOR LIFETIME ELITE STATUS IN MARRIOTT REWARDS, RITZ-CARLTON REWARDS OR SPG? IF SO, WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED OF MY LIFETIME ELITE STATUS?

A: Yes, in addition to earning based on the new criteria, members can earn Lifetime Elite Status under the legacy requirements through the end of 2018. If Lifetime status is achieved by legacy requirements, between August and December 31, 2018 you will receive notice of your updated Lifetime Elite status in January 2019. If Lifetime status is achieved based on the new criteria, you will be notified both in August 2018 as well as any time it is achieved through the end of the year.

Example: An SPG member has 300 Lifetime nights, 4 years of Gold Elite Status, and 1 year of Platinum Elite Status after August, 2018. Under the SPG legacy Lifetime requirements, this member would earn Lifetime Gold Elite status which would reflect in their account January 2019.

Q: IF I WILL NOT BE GRANDFATHERED INTO LIFETIME PLATINUM PREMIER ELITE, WILL I HAVE THE ABILITY TO EARN INTO THIS LEVEL IN 2018?

A: Yes, members can earn Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite in 2018 if they achieve 750 Lifetime nights and 10 years at Platinum Elite status. This requirement is only for 2018 and will not be continued in future years. Members will receive notice of this Lifetime achievement in January 2019.

My (98% SPG) LTP kicked in this past week. I'm at 88 nights combined this year with PPE status, so I *should* be getting LTPP in January, right?

939 nights, 11 years Plat (counting 2018), currently Plat Premier with 88 nights this year. The SPG app is already showing me as LTP even though I've read that LT status wouldn't show up until January.

lifetime status was always going to show up for those who qualified once the accounts were merged....those spg members who have met the criteria for ltpp will get that status in january....

Earned LT status in the SPG program always showed up within a week of two of earning it.

It's the LTPP status in the combined program, for those not already MR LTP prior to 8/18, that won't show until January.

Not urgent, just annoying. Having run many conversions, it's not the error that bugs me, it's the incompetence to respond to it.
My Marriott status was correctly updated to LTPP sometime in the last 2 days, so updates are still taking place in the system.

Good, but you're MR LTP so you qualified for new LTPP under the legacy MR rules. This says nothing about getting LTPP before January for those who are hopefully qualifying under the alternate paths.

So for those of us who qualify for LTPP through SPG nights and years, that won't show up at all this year?

Also, any idea of when the most recent (pre-combination) SPG stays will be posted correctly?

Thanks.

Yes, when I said
So my MR account, with the stats above, that was LTP, is now a MR account with the same stats above, and still LTP, not LTPP.
I thought it was clear that I was MR LTP and expected to be new program LTPP

Correct

(assuming you were not already MR LTP. If you also were MR LTP, as I was, you should now be new program LTPP. If that's not showing, as it wasn't for me, you should contact CS/Lurkers and have it fixed)

So after the new year no one will be able to become a new LT PP? This category will only contain members from 2018 and earlier?

Hi there,
Members who reach 750 nights and 10 years at Platinum by December 31, 2018, will be grandfathered into Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite status (notified January 2019). In addition, members that achieve Marriott Rewards Lifetime Platinum under the legacy requirements by year end will also be grandfathered into Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite status.

Beginning in 2019, qualification into Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite status will not be available.

Why the "sic"? You're = you are: Good, but you are MR LTP.....

Trying to change the sentence to read "your MR LTP...." with the possessive form leaves it with no verb before the "so" clause.

This seems a bit inaccurate or misleading in that what you fail to make clear is that current MR LTPs who have already qualified for legacy MR LTP (750 nights and 2,000,000 lifetime points from MR properties only) before August 18th are already LTPP in the new combined program. Your statement that legacy MR LTPs WILL BE grandfathered into LTPP fails to make this distinction; the future tense applies to MR LTPs only if they did not attain their legacy MR LTP status until after August 18th.
