PATHWAYS TO LIFETIME PLATINUM PREMIER ELITE STATUS:
1. Legacy Marriott Lifetime Platinum - 750 [MR+SPG] nights & 2MM Marriott Rewards points earned - not available after 1/1/2019
2. New Combined Program - 750 [MR+SPG] nights & 10 years combined/total as Platinum members previously under MR and/or SPG as of 12/31/2018 - not available after 1/1/2019
From members.marriott.com:
NOTE: Members that reach 750 nights and 10 years at Platinum by December 31, 2018 will be grandfathered into Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite status (notified January 2019).
FAQ from members.marriott.com
Q: CAN I EARN LIFETIME STATUS UNDER THE LEGACY REQUIREMENTS (ACTIVE PRIOR TO AUGUST 2018) FOR LIFETIME ELITE STATUS IN MARRIOTT REWARDS, RITZ-CARLTON REWARDS OR SPG? IF SO, WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED OF MY LIFETIME ELITE STATUS?
A: Yes, in addition to earning based on the new criteria, members can earn Lifetime Elite Status under the legacy requirements through the end of 2018. If Lifetime status is achieved by legacy requirements, between August and December 31, 2018 you will receive notice of your updated Lifetime Elite status in January 2019. If Lifetime status is achieved based on the new criteria, you will be notified both in August 2018 as well as any time it is achieved through the end of the year.
Example: An SPG member has 300 Lifetime nights, 4 years of Gold Elite Status, and 1 year of Platinum Elite Status after August, 2018. Under the SPG legacy Lifetime requirements, this member would earn Lifetime Gold Elite status which would reflect in their account January 2019.
Q: IF I WILL NOT BE GRANDFATHERED INTO LIFETIME PLATINUM PREMIER ELITE, WILL I HAVE THE ABILITY TO EARN INTO THIS LEVEL IN 2018?
A: Yes, members can earn Lifetime Platinum Premier Elite in 2018 if they achieve 750 Lifetime nights and 10 years at Platinum Elite status. This requirement is only for 2018 and will not be continued in future years. Members will receive notice of this Lifetime achievement in January 2019.

Hmm. I had just reached my 10th year as PLT for SPG with 761 Lifetime nights on July 29th of this year and my Lifetime Platinum status reflected on the SPG platform before the weekend convergence. Now on the SPG app it shows me as just 9 years platinum 773 lifetime nights, and Next Tier as Lifetime Silver Elite.
Should I contact Marriott or wait for a bit for them to iron out the kinks and see if things get resolved in the next few days?
BTW, I linked my Marriott and SPG accounts so the Platinum I achieved this year is reflected at both SPG and Marriott.

If it's going to imminently affect your point earn/benefits for a stay then contact Marriott, otherwise I'd give it a week for them to iron out the kinks. Issues with the display of current/lifetime status have been mentioned as known issues by the Starwood Lurkers/Marriott insider.

I'l give them a bit of time to catch their breath from the weekend cutover and see if things get sorted.

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but this is all very hard to follow, especially with Marriott constantly flipping things around.
Is there any way to know whether MR + SPG nights have actually combined? On the Marriott site this morning, it is showing me as lifetime Platinum elite (I was lifetime gold previously) with 667 stays. SPG claims 370 nights and that I am on my way to the next tier of Silver elite (of course.)
I have NOT combined accounts, I had previously linked them.
Does this mean I should actually have 1037 nights and hence LTPP, or have they possibly already combined them? I honestly cannot remember how many Marriott stays I had before moving to SPG some years back.

Ok, so if I understand all of the above, since hubby has:
a) 571 SPG nights
b) 419 Marriott nights
c) 5 years SPG plat (and 40 nights so far this year/16 Marriott nights this year...so by the end of the year will have 6 years SPG plat)
d) 5 years Marriott Gold
additionally, he has 1.8 million MR points...and another 100k coming from the Marriott Visa (and I’d gladly transfer in another 100k UR points to make 2 million)
So...will he be LTPP in January? This thread seems to indicate he will be. But I can’t seem to find that verification anywhere on Marriott. Just SPG LTP w 750 nights or Marriott LTP get LTPP.
Thanks all!

Anyone here got promoted to a hidden tier called "Five Stars with ambassador" after account being merged. Marriott members confirm it is an hidden invitation tier (I imagine similar to SPG VIP).
Mine has an expiry date on the ambassador til Jan 2020. Now I am afraid of merging this Spg account with the Marriott one and potentially anger the IT gods and lose the Five Star.

So I'm 850+ nights and 10 years platinum.
But my SPG account still says Platinum Elite, not Platinum Premier Elite.
System bug or need to wait?

Give it time to be fixed unless it will affect a reservation that you are checking in for this week.

System bug, known issue that members are having display issues with current/lifetime status (Starwood Lurkers have indicated that they are aware of this as a known issue).

You seem confused. I suspect you're writing stays when you mean nights. In particular, MR never counted stays, just nights, while SPG allowed one to earn status based on either nights or stays (up to PlatMinus).
Do you know how many lifetime MR points you earned?
Do you know how many years of elite status at various levels you earned (not including status from matching via linked accounts)?

I just merged my Marriott and SPG accounts and I currently have over 10 years Platinum and 750+ nights across the two programs. but it shows my status as Lifetime Platinum, not Lifetime Platinum Premier which is what I would have expected given the 10 year/750 night threshhold. Or do you guys think they'll only run a sweep of that at the end of the year and upgrade our status in January 2019?
