Hi brian22,

We would like to help contact the Ambassador team for you, if you could provide your account details to us via private mail here or by email below.

Otherwise, it sounds like your account might be on some list to be audited. Have you done anything prohibited or questionable?

On the spend side I qualified by a comfortable... and I don't think I've done anything prohibited or questionable in my years of Pre-Merger Marriott Platinum. I pretty much only use Marriott for work and the occasional point redemption while on vacation. So, unless spending almost every week last year Sunday-Thursday at the same hotel is questionable or prohibited... *shrug* Then again, they did make a royal hash of my account on August 18 and lost my entire history loyalty history (not the current year, just prior years). It took them 3 months to fix it. Or maybe the fact that last year I shifted my spend from 60-40 Marriott-Hyatt to 90-10? Who knows. Who cares any more? I've moved most of my spend off Marriott these days.

I've been busy and have yet to call to switch my AWOL ambassador. Then out of nowhere, after not hearing from him for 4+ months, he responded to my request sent to the generic ambassador team email address with one sentence -

"This is all taken care of"

No greetings, thank you, etc. or even confirmation on what's being taken care of. Just these six words.

I guess Marriott just doesn't bother trying to keep its customers.

I had another stay at the Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport; my third stay in 4 or 5 weeks. I've been staying here lately because the rates have been good and the other Marriott airport properties are both off-airport and in need of renovation.

You can see my recent reviews in the master thread of the property: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marr...er-thread.html

Last week, pre-launch of Bonvoy the front desk clerk recognized me as a platinum. The same clerk was working this time around and recognized me as an ambassador. So that's interesting.

Even more interesting was the pre-arrival email I received 24 hours before my stay from the hotel's "lobby ambassador" asking for my special preferences and the purpose of my stay. That's never happened before at this property.

When I arrived I was upgraded to the treadmill room, which I requested over a suite in an email responding to the "lobby ambassador." I thought the lobby ambassador might be on-duty but if she was she never greeted me personally. Waiting in my room were two cans of Diet Pepsi (one of my three drink preferences; the others being champagne and chablis) and a personalized note in an envelope. This was also my first stay since September in which all of my standing room preferences (feather pillows; extra feather pillows, so six not four; and extra towels) were requested. It was also only my second stay since September in which I was greeted in the room with a personalized thank you note or letter. The only other hotel to do this was the Prince de Galles, Luxury Collection in Paris.

I don't know if this was because of my ambassador status or because I'm a repeat guest, but the recognition here was appreciated and is noticeably better than just a week ago.

If the rates here, which historically have run high, stay low I will stay here much more in the future over the tired Sheraton and Marriott and the dumpy Delta, all of which are off-airport properties.

dont you make a big deal if you are even potentially looked at as a non-amb level? perhaps the FD agent did want another ribbing? :D also, you have mentioned the issues about someone in your situation not making Amb each year due to meeting and event spend not counting but you had Amb last year and again this year? How so?

My ambassador has been great!

I've only had an ambassador for a few months, but she has done exactly what I had hoped for. Though upgrades are cool, I have not asked for them; my real need is for someone to take care of problems so I don't have to waste time on hold or explaining things to less experienced customer service folks.

She's been especially helpful when I've had reservations that could not be managed on line (which often happens with rooms in blocks that are part of an event contract). On a related note, she's run interference for me with some of the harder to deal with Marriotts (Marriott Santa Clara, for example). She can't always get me the answer I want, but she saves me a ton of time getting the answer.

It's easy to get in touch with her. I have her office hours and she usually picks up during those hours. She is also prompt with email replies.

My ambassador is ex Starwood, so she reaches out to Marriott people when there are issues that are complicated and based on legacy Marriott policies (like point prices on reservations booked under the old awards chart that do not yet have a certificate attached).

It looks like the app has finally been updated to reflect the Ambassador phone number instead of the terrible platinum support line. The only negative is now you get “Ambassador Agents”, not real Ambassadors. The person I talked with was more helpful then the Marriott platinum desk (probably akin to the old SPG platinum line) but still had to pass along my issue to my “real Ambassador since real Ambassador could probably help more”.

I called 3 times today and the first two calls went unanswered. The third was answered after 1min of ringing. Agent was obviously in an overseas call center (sounded like India).

Not being able to reach someone 100% of the time is a bit problematic. This is the second time I have issues reaching an agent on the Ambassador line this month.

No, I have in the past, if the flow of the transactional conversation allowed, corrected the front desk clerk that I have ambassador status. Sometimes, I'd say something such as, "Wait, [insert lower status here]? I thought I was ambassador. Did my status change?"

I hit 100 nights and $20,000 just fine, but not including even a fraction of the event spend, at least the rooms component, is wrong.

Funny, I had qualified for Ambassador Status in 2017 and I never heard a peep from anyone in 2018 maybe I had and Ambassador maybe not. But the kicker is in 2018 I had 130-ish qualified nights but hadn't spent the $20,000 to qualify for "Ambassador Status" via Marriott and although Marriott "upgraded" the status of everyone under Platinum Premier/ Titanium to next status level, I was not upgraded to Ambassador Status because according to Marriott I could only qualify by spending the $20,000.... IDK I feel the Ambassador Status is joke anyways but who knows maybe the joke is on me lol

I don't believe Marriott upgraded the status of everyone who was Plat Premier/Titanium to the next status level.

Were you Ambassador in 2017 under the SPG program? For those of us who were selected under the Marriott unpublished ambassador program, we were given an ambassador when we were notified of the selection.

I love my ambassador. We speak a few times a week, she is extremely helpful with any request and on my birthday last month she helped arrange for me at a Courtyard a nice Birthday card in my suite signed by the whole staff, a basket full of Godiva truffles and chips and trail mix and candy and some Life Water. Plus the hotel got me an ice cream cake courtesy of my Ambassador. And I had never stayed there before. She is more than I ever could have hoped for.

Forgive me I must have not been clear about what I meant. What I was trying to say was that prior to 8/18 if you qualified for Platinum Status by staying a combined total of 50 eligible nights between SPG + Marriott, Marriott would upgrade your status to Platinum Premier/ Titanium. If you stayed 0 nights but had a credit card that granted you Gold status in either program you would be upgraded to Platinum Status. Anything below Ambassador status was basically upgraded to next status level. I'm upset about this because Marriott has basically devalued PP/ Titanium members by upgrading all lower tiers. Its gotten so bad that many hotels are denying standard benefits because so many people got "free" Platinum status or got upgraded to PP/Titanium. IMO theres a huge difference between someone who has 50 nights of loyalty and 130 such as myself and well the difference between someone who has a CC granting them Gold = Platinum and someone who's stayed 49 nights is also a joke.
