I’m looking at it for mid December. There are two St Regis in Cairo on the Marriott website. One you have to phone to book. I’m considering the one you can currently book online.
The map appears to point to their office. |
The St. Regis Cairo - yes, the one on the Nile Corniche - is open for reservations from June 25th at 265 USD per night.
Their website is also updated with all property details and a 70-strong photo gallery. I... I don't know what to believe, think or feel. Is this real? Can it be? khabah |
Category 5 seems pretty reasonable

For everything that has transpired this year, this hotel is actually opening is the most astonishing story of 2020
Any Cairo based flyertalkers want to take a trip for some afternoon tea and report back? :D |
Just wanted to add this story to the thread.
Seems the hotel still has Qatari ownership https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/ori...s-tension.html |

About time that this place opens before falling into decay. Not sure how many guests they'll get considering their current rates. |
STR Cairo now open
Looks like standard rates are from USD215/night. Metropolitan & Astor suites seem to be priced reasonably. Will try and make it to this place later this year :)

Good evening. I'll be in Cairo in May. I am not familiar with the St. Regis brand; it is Marriott and CYs for me. This is one of the few St. Regis' that I am willing to pay. Being a Platinum, it appears that I can chose breakfast as a welcome amenity. Are St. Regis good about room upgrades? Or a better chance with my now 10 SNAs (or a better upgrade)? Is there any value in going through Chase LHR or Virtuoso programs? Thanks!

No personal experience but you can see a recent COVID review from a Plat here! https://aupacs.com/st-regis-cairo-review/
My go to is the FS First Residence. The StR looks much fresher and modern, however the FS has views of the Nile, the Zoo and the Pyramids. I'd still be keen to try it. |
I just stayed there as a Lifetime Titanium. I was pleased as my booking was the lowest category and received an upgrade to a grand deluxe. Mostly we could just see the city with a very slight view of the nile That's the highest before a suite. There were suites open but did not receipt one. Not sure why but this was good enough. They also comped the rollaway for the child.
There are so many people working there and they are mostly all delightful and do anything and everything they can to make you happy. The public areas are nice including the pool (indoor and out) plus the exercise area. Did not use the spa. The breakfast option was chosen for the amenity. It was not buffet but the menu was huge and it seemed you could order whatever you wanted. We had room service dinner once and they came and set up the table. The only issues I had were in the Wintergarden Lounge. It was fine but I didn't find the staff there too welcoming - just good enough. Also, one day they forgot housekeeping. I'm not sure how that happened. They offered to fix it quickly but we came back late in the day and were leaving early the next morning so declined. We did not have our DND sign out or anything and left the room by 11am. Overall I would give this one a strong recommendation. |
Thanks for the write-up! I am hoping to stay there later this year. I tried to apply a Suite Upgrade Cert to my booking but it turns out the St Regis Cairo “doesn’t participate” in the suite upgrade program. Yay Bonvoy. That being said, still looking forward to the stay and love St. Regis as a brand in general.

why wouldn't they give suites when they're available?

Any further information as to why this property does not participate in the SNA program? I was willing to pay cash and apply SNAs? I may as well use my two certs if SNAs are not available (or stay elsewhere)? Write to the Bonvoy Lurker?
