The hotel is own by billionaire tycoon and by selling half of the hotel rooms as residence at a price slightly lower than soon to be open four season kl residence in 2017, they already recovered a big portion of their investment cost. So, whether to charge at usd 260 or lower, it doesn't mean much to them, guys. Actually, the more expensive, the better. If you don't think is worth it or cant afford, they will always be other people willing to. Their target market might even be the generous wealthy Asians. Most of the hotels that were mentioned are old except for GH. I think the only competition will be FS when opened in 2017 and I doubt the rates will be lower than this. Just my 2 cents.

This is where you are wrong.

It baffles me why folks think affluent people are clueless. If anything, the prejudice should be to the contrary.

Oh I see.

On that basis, why are we even talking about the merits of the hotel? Because apparently it makes no difference to the owner anyway.

A most strange observation. Rich people may be less sensitive to price, but they would most certainly insist on top notch standards. You've already spent 15 minutes (apparently) explaining to us a hundred different ways in which it falls far short of that goal. So do enlighten us, why will the "target market" care whether it costs $260 or $2600, when - even by your own account - it is so far away from delivering what their competitors are already doing so well?

Maybe the FS opening will be a bit less of a botched job than this, however

Also, if anything I would argue that a highly regarded and well managed older hotel would be far more attractive to the majority of the wealthy clientele over a new property which clearly has not even gotten the basics right. But hey, that's just my opinion.

FS location is MUCH BETTER, right next to the Petronas twin tower.

SR cannot match. I will choose FS over SR anytime if the price are the same.

P.S. i'm quite sure that there is someone from the management monitoring this thread.

FS (in construction) location :

STR located at KL Central ??? What you can do it there ... maybe this location with all LM, Aloft, STR is good for short business stopovers but not for leisure travelers.

Swimming poll at STR is located at 6 floor and wedged between two towers with limited view. You can see this at LM/Hilton swimming pool and view is limited by new CIMB tower. Now best swimming pool at this place we have in Aloft.

Best hospitality still we have in LM with bargain price.

St regis KL

Just checkin at St Regis KL..quite underwhelmed with the experience so far.Wait for the shuttle for more than 20 minutes finally decided to just walk to the hotel.no proper side walk..quite challenging with uneven road surface, few busy road to cross, few step of climbing and construction hoarding board all around the hotel. Pool not ready (pool opening date postponed to july). No dental kit or shaving kit.TV in the bathroom not working and few cleanliness issues.the most embarassing experience is when housekeeping come in to my room without knocking door or ring the bell and as a result, she saw me half naked
