Just saw this. I'm booked here for two nights in the spring. I'll report back. It looks wonderful.

Mr. Karen2 and I honeymooned there but, from what I read, you can never go back. Haiti saddens us as it has so much potential.
I opened and managed the casino at the Habitation Le Clerc in the 80s.

Look forward to your report. If you do a trip report, please start a new thread specific to the property to make it easier to come up on FT search. Thx!

Cheers.

Any recent stays? I am going later this month for four nights. Wondering if I might be offered an upgrade or comped breakfast as a Gold member?

If you linked your SPG-MAR accounts you'll get the free breakfast & are eligible for an upgrade (upgrade based on availability) based on your SPG Plat status.

Cheers.

I'm staying there this weekend. Anyone have any recent feedback? I saw some reports on another website that service has gone down (dirty pool and rooms). I'm staying there this weekend. Hope to explore a bit of the neighborhood.

Airport transfers are now $45 each way. Seems steep but probably the safest option.

Does anyone have recent experience at this property, especially security given the unrest in Haiti?

I ended up staying there in 2017 -- so not super recently.

The hotel itself is very modern and safe. No metal detectors or anything. However, there was a security presence on the property to be sure.

Do you remember any first-world restaurants outside the hotel compound?

I remember a Dominos across the street, though I wouldn't necessarily consider that "first world"

Would you have felt safe eating there?

I walked a few blocks around the hotel (during daylight). Found a grocery store. For meals I ate on site. Dominos is more a take out, cheap pizza place. So I don't think you'd want to eat there anyway.

I stayed for three nights recently. Staff were friendly and service was good, almost all staff speak a high level of English. The breakfast was just fine and included with the room rate. I don't expect much from having Gold status but was surprised that nothing came of it here, as the hotel is mostly empty due to the current situation in Haiti. The restaurant is pretty standard for Port-au-Prince, a mix of some Haitian dishes (griot, lamb, etc.), some seafood, and then a smattering of pizzas and pastas. Alcohol is quite expensive compared to other restaurants in the PAP area.

I can't speak to transport from the airport as I currently live in Haiti. As for the security, it felt fairly secure, although I didn't explore the neighbourhood on foot, and I have my own transport here so I can't speak to whatever transport the hotel might provide. Overall the only realistic choices for big Western-style hotels here are the Marriott, Karibe, and Montana, and I definitely preferred this to Karibe. Can't speak to Montana.
