Does that also mean there’s no city tax on bookings with points?

I wasn't charged anything. This was on the original reservation email:

"Using your points will cover your room charge and tax. Additional service charges, additional bed fees (such as crib, pack and play, or rollaway bed), or resort fees may apply where applicable."

That’s great. It’s just that I see 10,000 yen showing on mine but I guess it’ll be corrected later.

Checked in last evening and this property has been nothing short of amazing. I came in with sky high expectations based on reviews from fellow FTers, and they've so far managed to exceed them all.

The staff, the food and the hardware are all simply perfect. This might become my favorite hotel that I've ever had the pleasure of staying at.

Where do you find the bus from the train station to the hotel? Do you have to organize it in advance?

Bus? I just took a taxi; it's a short ride.

There’s supposed to be a free shuttle from the train station. Did that change?

There was no free shuttle as of October 2018 when we stayed. I hadn't encountered anything like that with my planning for the trip, either.

No mention of a shuttle during my stay either. When I checked out they asked if I wanted a taxi to the station or if I had my own transportation. It should be 1.2-1.5k Yen for a taxi.

Wasn't mentioned and didn't see it in any of the literature...

There is a car service mentioned on the website though:

A memorable stay in our suite room including a drop off car service and daily breakfast.

They've never had a free shuttle bus and probably wouldn't ever.

This is where the HR Kyoto trumps the RC Kyoto, with their multiple thoughtfulness of each point of the guest stay experience. Just stayed at the RC Kyoto for the first time, as expected, service should and is befitting RC standards for a very service-orientated society. Got upgraded to the Kamogawa Deluxe room as a Platinum and breakfast was included. Staff was wonderful and helpful, but as it should be for an RC in Japan and the price you pay. HR Kyoto still has the edge in my book as a Hyatt Globalist, though I will not hesitate to stay at the RC Kyoto again as a Marriott Platinum member if the opportunity presents itself. The Japanese breakfast was good at RC Kyoto though I felt the Japanese breakfast was better at HR Kyoto. But it was a lovely view in the hotel with Koyo season all around now.

With the room rates where they are at the RC, I would be amazed if there would be much of a demand for a shuttle bus to/from the train station amongst the clientele.

Plus, the RC is about 3x the distance from Kyoto Station compared to the HR.
