Thank you for your help

Straightforward. I got them to hold on to a suitcase once before I had actually checked in. Had been staying in the Courtyard 10 minutes walk away, then went to Nasca for a few days, before returning to Lima and the JWM. Needed proof of ID and locating my booking but that was all.

One night stay

I stayed at Sheraton for one night before heading to Arequipa. I think that I won’t stay at this hotel in the future because (1) slow checkin and nobody manned the Bonvoy elite station, and (2) foods gave me trouble with my stomach, after breakfast at the restaurant and after the lounge visit at noon. My stomach behaved perfectly after leaving the Sheraton.

I can confirm the club lounge has reopened on the 24th floor. Breakfast, lunch, dinner (plus beer and wine 7-9p)

Wow, they have substantial food at lunch, too? That's borderline Ritz-Carlton quality!
How's the pool here...is it in the sun most of the day?

Do elite members receive complimentary breakfast at the restaurant, or is it offered exclusively in the lounge?

When I was there a few months ago, daily breakfast in the restaurant was one of the welcome gift options.

Does this property still have a concierge?

I am going to be there in the next week and I believe they are called "Guest Experience Experts".

Mixed emotions about my stay here at the JW Lima.
Arrived early afternoon coming in from Paracas. Gentleman immediately greeted us and whisked our luggage away like it was on fire! LOL. Good first impressions. Check in was quick & easy and the associate explained what the hotel had to offer - received a small upgrade.
I guess the only thing she did not explain was the elevator situation. I knew from previous reviews that you need to jump to the 2nd floor and change elevators. I didn't ask as I figured I knew what I was doing - got off on the second floor and for the life of us we could not find the other set of elevators! Someone finally noticed what we were doing and guided us to the other set - The gentleman with our luggage was sitting outside our door waiting for us which probably felt like an eternity for him! :)
Rooms are nicely refurbished and we had a great view of the ocean on the 19th floor! So far so good - Just took us a little while to figure out the lighting situation in the room.
Club Lounge - Serves food starting at 6PM and then 7PM - 9PM they bring out some wine and beer. The food is usually pulled off around 8PM. - I could not get a good feel from previous reviews as to what to expect in this lounge - We were pleasantly surprised and were quite impressed actually. It is not a huge lounge but it honestly never really felt super busy? Definitely noticed a big difference coming to the JW now in the city with all the English speaking business people as they MUST get on their computer and calls and ensure everyone in the lounge can hear how important they are! This drives me nuts!
Anyway, Breakfast is just fine - same thing pretty much every day but I am not too fussy about breakfast whatsoever- LUNCH - I did not realize but they actually serve a lunch in here from 12:30 - 3PM if I recall and it was not bad at all. Usually had soup, rice and some sort of meat dish etc., All types of sandwiches, desserts etc., Thought it was pretty good. DINNER - Again usually 3 hot dishes of some sort and a few other things including the regular cheese, meats, bread etc., along with desserts. I thought the service was well done and very welcoming. We were always welcomed each day by name. I think I remember her name as Gabriella - she was always welcoming and talkative with us.
....Now for the bad part that might be just me but our bed in our room was one of the worst beds I have slept in for a hotel in a very, very long time along with the crappy sheets. I know it sounds petty but it was a rock - I am not talking a firm mattress which is just fine by me but it felt like there was not mattress at all. It was brutal. Not sure if I just got a really old bed or not but the worst sleeps of the entire trip. Secondly, the sheets/mattress or something caused me to sweat at night which is unusual. I don't know but it brought down my rating substantially as a good nights sleep is important and I was not getting them here!!! We just came from the Hotel Paracas and those beds and sheets were heavenly! This JW bed and sheets were a disgrace.
The JW of course has a different customer - when we arrived we went to the lounge for some drinks etc., and just in the lounge and throughout the stay there seemed to be so many "important" people so they thought and just need to flaunt their money in different ways. It just felt a little stuffy at times.
We noticed throughout the week the staff on the main floor etc., were not very interactive whatsoever and almost felt a little cold. We walked through this area countless times with barely any acknowledgement. We did attempt to try out the Casino the last night but they would not let us in without our passport and I was not interested in going back up to the room to get it. So we probably saved $300-$400 bucks that night. Their loss. It looks like there is different staff in that area of the hotel (not JW staff) as they were even colder. The one guy was usually down there all week and could not crack a smile or a hello if his life depended on it.
All in all the rooms were well done with the renovations albeit the beds and bedding left a real bad taste - gorgeous views and excellent location for sure. If I could rewind I might have saved a ton and just booked the AC hotel albeit I guess it might be a wash depending on what your plan is for dining. The JW can support your meals for sure in the lounge? I just thought it was missing something and maybe could have done a little better for the luxury brand it is. At the end of the day it is a beautiful hotel.

..almost forgot to add. There was something odd with the cheap TV also - the picture was dizzying at time to watch and the volume always sounded like a distant echo. I had to turn the thing up to 75% to actually here anything.

Marriott has announced this hotel will re-brand to a Ritz-Carlton in 2028. No mention of closing or remodeling though which seems odd.

Bravada04 May 14, 2026 7:09 pm

Remodel.........they literally just finished one! Possibly pre-planned hence the remodel?

I wonder what will actually changes from the perspective of guests. There’s always room for improvement, but already recently renovated. Already serving hot meals in the lounge for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

My fear is the main change is going to be more expensive and fewer elite benefits.

There is no doubt that will happen.
