Wife and I have stayed at nearly 70 Marriotts around the world and would have to rate this one in the top five. Don't settle for anything but an ocean view room; the view is breathtaking. Also, the exec. lounge here is the best: marvelous breakfast choices, scones and finger sandwiches during the afternoon along with a comp wine bar, and a great choice of goodies in the evening with an open bar (when we were there two years ago) with all the top hooch. You really don't need to eat anywhere else. My wife leaves next week for six days there on government business (loosely interpreted) and was able to snag a rate of $229/nite. We haven't stayed at many other hotels in Lima (avoid the Sheraton) but I don't think you can beat this Marriott overall. It's definitely one of the crown jewels in the system. Their property in Cuzco is first rate too.

Anyone looking for reliable taxi service in Lima should contact Edward (Eduardo) Ventocilla at limacabs.com. He is a wonderful driver and tour guide who is totally fluent in English. He'll meet you at the airport regardless of time with a personalized sign and a big smile. We used his services daily while in Lima and were thoroughly satisfied.

Thanks, any chance you been to the Four Points in Miraflores as well? Thats going for 7K pts/night. I'm gold with both Sheraton and Marriott, just looking for a good points value.

Wasn't aware of a Four Points in Miraflores. Last we were there the only Starwood property was the Sheraton downtown. That hotel used to have a great casino, but no more. If you can get the Four points for 7K/nite that's an excellent value if the hotel is in good condition.

recent stay

I had a recent multi-night stay at the JW Lima, and as other previous posts in this thread have mentioned, it's a top notch property! I must agree that it's probably one of the best Marriotts in the entire chain.

First of all, this hotel is located in Miraflores, the nicest part of Lima. it's right in front of the ocean (which would be even nicer, except that Lima is overcast most days of the year) and across the street from the Larcomar mall. Among other things, this mall has some nice dining choices, a bunch of typical mall stores, a movie theater, and a small grocery store (Wong's).

The hotel is about 45min - 75min from the airport (depending on traffic) and costs about 70-80 soles (~ $30) for an entire vehicle to take to you the hotel.

Upon checkin, as platinum, I was given a corner suite which had amazing views of the ocean. Also as others had previously mentioned, the Concierge Lounge was first class. It's open 7 days a week and very spacious with ample comfortable seating and great views. It had an abundant breakfast spread as well as high-quality offerings for lunch and dinner. Even after hours, one could access the lounge for late night water / sodas, etc. There is absolutely no reason why one would ever go hungry if they had CL lounge access during their stay.

The gym at this place was also exceptional! It had all the right equipment and in great condition. It's the kind of stuff you would expect at your local membership gym. Across the street, there is a small bike kiosk where you can rent a bicycle by the hour for some very scenic riding.

All staff were cheerful and eager to assist. It's virtually at full occupancy year-round and for very good reason.

Enjoy your stay - you won't be disappointed!

ps. I'll also do a quick review of the JW Cusco, which was also amazing!

My partner and I recently stayed at the JW Marriott Lima for two days in mid-September and loved the experience. I agree completely that the highlights include the Miraflores location, the superb executive lounge, and the very well equipped fitness center.

In spite of the local restaurant offerings, we tried the JW Ceviche Sushi Lounge and were not disappointed.

Stay during Christmas

We are planning to stay at JW Marriott, Lima during Christmas. I am a gold and am wondering if Gold's usually get an upgrade at this property.
Any recommendations (as to great room, suites with a view) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You are in for a lovely Christmas! Golds get treated very well here but I wouldn't chance the upgrade because of room availability. Book a one bedroom suite. All of the rooms have beautiful views. You may be lucky enough to then be upgraded to a corner one bedroom. You can't go wrong and you won't be disappointed. Be sure to enjoy the lounge during your stay. It's always open and the staff are wonderful! I'm certain you are going to enjoy your stay...I'm curious to know what you think so be sure to let me know. My next stay there is March and now you have me excited about it! ENJOY!

I am one for two on upgrades as a Plat. My last stay during a weekend I ended up with a fairly dismal room which was far from an upgrade. Good luck.

I haven't had the Presidential suite yet but I'm hoping.

Great hotel and scored an upgrade! We booked during a busy holiday weekend too.

Looks like they are modernizing the floors so the top floors are nice while the bottom floors remain unremodeled. The club is pretty awesome too. ^^^

Shot a short video touring our corner room from our stay last month for those interested in staying here:

There's also a whole trip report series I wrote up and posted to my blog to read - it's pretty lengthy. I was very happy with our stay at the JW Lima - comfy bedding, great location, helpful staff. https://realtalkguidetoawesome.wordp...report-series/

J W Marriott Lima Peru

For anyone going to Lima, Peru you must stay at the JW Marriott. First of all the service is exceptional in all departments. I have stayed there several times over the last six years and the service never changes. From the doorman to the front desk. You should definitely use the concierge lounge if you are going to stay. All of the girls are exceptional there but Valeria and Sandra really stand out. You can eat three meals a day there if you want and enjoy complementary beer and wine at times. I am both a travel agent and a platinum member of Marriott. I travel to many hotels in many countries and this is still my favorite hotel.

Does the club lounge include free wine/beer/spirits in the evenings? In the past, it did not.
