Does the club lounge include free wine/beer/spirits in the evenings? In the past, it did not.

There are some evenings where beer is gratis for a couple of hours and there is a charge for wine or spirits. But most nights, there is a couple of hours of complimentary wine. Hard liquor is never free in Lima as far as I know.

I would urge them to have both beer and wine available for the couple of hours... instead of just one or the other.

Excellent check-out time

If rooms are available, you can check out as late at 6 PM at this hotel. Just ask the front desk at the time of check-in.

This is a beautiful hotel across from Larcomar. There is basically nothing else to walk to. However, the concierge is wonderful and will arrange cheap and safe taxis to restaurants, museums and tours. I suggest the half day City Tour (includes the statue of Love and the San Francisco Monastery and its catacombs), an independent morning at the Plaza de Armas (to see the changing of the guard at noon, the Cathedral and lunch at Cordado), and independent tour to the Museo Larco, and the Turibus tour to Barranco (leaves from across the street too). Although big, the staff still treats you personally.

Cheers.

Fantastic!

All,

Just back from a few days at this hotel. It is fantastic. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it is the best Marriott I've stayed at anywhere. Period!

From the personalized check in, to the ocean view room, to the spotless facilities, to the fantastic team and offerings in the lounge, to the late check out and departure, it was flawless.

I kid you not!

If you're in Lima, please give this one a try. You'll :D:D:D

Joel

Does anyone have experience in the Bonvoy world? What upgrades have titaniums gotten? I stayed in 2005 as a plat (then top Marriott status) and wouldn't want the tight room we were given again.

Last month in Lima, we stayed at the Sheraton and the Hilton. I stopped of at the JW Marriott and was given a tour of the hotel by the Service Rep. . She said that they upgrade Platinum members to suites based on availability. Yes, you are correct, the rooms are small and so is the Executive Lounge.
We had an outstanding 10 day stay at the Hotel Paracus (3 hours south of Lima) also in March (2019) . The best Platinum recognition I have experienced in 20 + years with Starwoods.

Stayed here for three days last month. Hotel was excellent, however the quote from the Marriott booking site was given in US$, but I was charged in PEN, which worked out to about US$40 more than the quote. Heads up!

The so-called "Customer Care" agent won't budge.

And to add insult to injury they then charge the card in USD using DCC. Double whammy. (I didn’t stay at the JW but at the Four Points but I’m sure it happens throughout the country). Award stay is the way to go in Peru or prepaid local chains through OTA.

Anyone looking for reliable taxi service in Lima should contact Edward (Eduardo) Ventocilla at limacabs.com. He is a wonderful driver and tour guide who is totally fluent in English. He'll meet you at the airport regardless of time with a personalized sign and a big smile. We used his services daily while in Lima and were thoroughly satisfied.

This years on, this remains a great recommendation. We booked their day tour to Paracas and Nazca Lines and were completely satisfied with the service. The Nazca Lines were fascinating, far more than I anticipated. We also booked Eduardo and Lima Cabs for our transfer from the airport to the JW, to Central Restaurant and back, and back to the airport. We used WhatsApp to easily contact Eduardo. We were very glad to have all of this arranged in advance and have it all be very stress free.

As for the hotel, we had an excellent one night stay. I booked on points, initially 35K. I checked a few weeks out and found a saver rate of 32,500. I checked two weeks out and found 27,500 points. I am titanium and had the good fortune to be upgraded to a large, comfortable suite overlooking the ocean. I was happy to find that the hotel has Netflix. I don't normally watch TV in a hotel as I can't bear to see commercials and be locked into the programming schedule. We only used the lounge for breakfast but were pleased with both its comfort and the food.

thank you for the great recommendation. I’m looking to book here with them and had a question.

i land at 11pm and fly I out 4pm next day. Is that enough for a city tour in the morning and get driven after to airport? Or is it worth staying an extra night to enjoy the nightlife/dinner here or taking that full day tour you did instead? I have to head to Panama for work but I can stay an extra night if needed. Will be on my own.

The hotel looks amazing as well. Very excited for my stay, albeit short.

I was going to stay here but the AC next door offered me a guaranteed check in after my 6am arrival. The JW would not.

Note that Peru is health emergency oct 1-31... Spa closed, many restaurants closed. Lounge is open but no service, just water + coffee. Sad :( Extended my stay in Lima before I realized this, ugh. LOL. Would rather be in Panama! Oh well.

That’s sad. Most restaurants and bars look open as I am here now. But hotels are doing cost cutting so they probably close their own facilities even though not exactly required by law.
