As of July 2023, the Elite happy hour benefit is a single drink voucher from a limited menu (Margarita, Tequila Sunrise, and one other drink I can't remember).

Nobody should go to a new hotel in the first few months and expect totally smooth experience.

No guarantee that it will stay as a suite.

Charge for a TEASPOON???? Nah, that can't be right. They must be mixed up. If that really happens, you should charge them for the embarrassment of making you stand at reception in your bathrobe for 10 mins, because they made a mistake in your keycard times!!!!
Looks like problems continue to persist even after we check out.
They did not forget to post the double starpoints; they just posted 8% less for the double starpoints. (It's so glaring. if you got XXX points as the base points, the double points should also be XXX points. But i got XXX - 8% points for the double points entry.)

Called Plat Concierge, and somehow the Plat Concierge can pluck a new term from nowhere that the double starpoints is "limited to accommodation only". I questioned where did that clause came from, as I do not remember any double starpoints promotions having such a clause, nor was it in the booking details for this stay citing so! (it simply states double spg points! even if you check the website booking now, it simply states "double spg points"!)

Then the Plat Concierge said that that is what they confirmed with the W Hotel Singapore. (wow, the Hotel can add in clauses as an afterthought, and it is not stated anywhere?)

I am disappointed with Plat Concierge. They should have done better and know this should not be the case and told the Hotel so. Instead, they simply accepted the Hotel's words and tried to push their excuses down my throat (and I suspected other Plat's throats for it seems it is not the 1st qn they received). In the end, Plat Concierge simply said they will just get the Hotel to make up the missing 8% points. [So the Plat Concierge still thinks I am wrong, but will accommodate my "unreasonable" request. ]

Oh well.

Thanks for bringing this up. Looks like I have also been majorly short-chaged for the starpoints.

Now if I have over-looked this term/condition along the way somewhere, then I am prepared to take full blame and not worry about the not-so-double starpoints. However, I have just checked through the terms & conditions etc on the spg site regarding this promo and there is no mention anywhere of this.

I do not usually call upon the lurkers, but if they could please let me know where I can find this term/condition documented I would be very grateful. Otherwise, it is only right that the guests are paid the full double starpoints for their stays including the incidentals!

Well, I had to ask couple of times. I didn't get any upgrade prior to arrival, so during check-in I asked if there are any suites available. I was informed that none were available and was instead upgraded to the next category room which I accepted. However, when I looked online I noticed that they still were showing suites bookable for the duration of my stay. So I requested to verify the availability of the suites based on the online info and was informed there is nothing available at that time, but they can move me to a suite later in the evening.

The shuttle also picks up people at Vivocity itself. That drops you off at the Sentosa Cove entry gantry, and it's a 600m walk after that, unless the hotel's buggys are up and running. You need to find out if the shuttle takes non-residents but I'm presuming it does.

The MRT experiment was a complete failure Actually, the MRT part itself wasn't a problem. I've been to Singapore before and in fact I still had my EZ link card. The main problem was that I didn't realize that the monorail to Sentosa Cove has actually multiple stops (3 I think). So I ended up disembarking on the second stop (Imbiah station) and couldn't figure out where to go next. I ended up taking one of the buses to another station and was told that I need to take the yellow line that should get me closer to the W. At that point I was tired of the heat and dragging the luggage so instead grabbed a taxi to take me to the hotel.

So I wouldn't necessarily recommend this way of getting there unless you know exactly what you're doing. I think for those that want to take the MRT, the best option is to take the MRT from Changi to Harbour Front (Vivo City) and then just take the cab to the W from there. Keep in mind that technically you'll need to transfer twice: first time green-to-green out of Changi at Tanah Merah, then green-to-purple at Outram Park. The transfer at Outram Park is a bit of a walk so it's not recommended with a lot of luggage.

The cab ride from Vivo City to W is about $6 (more during night). There is also a shuttle between Vivo City and the W that runs every 30-60 minutes depending on the time of the day. I took a picture of the current shuttle schedule if anyone is interested: http://imgur.com/cvSuD

Great pictures, thanks! But OMG the design is ugly. What's going on at the TV frame, bed wall (are those feathers on the pendant?) and sconces at vanity?

I quite liked the design of the suite.

Maybe StR Singapore is more up your alley?

Just stayed at the W Singapore for 3 nights, and have to say I'm disappointed, and I won't stay there again. While the room was very nice (probably to most spacious W room I have ever stayed in). But everything else was disappointing. No suite upgrade for me, but that was ok, since the spectacular (?) room was big enough. In the room I found a chocolate bar that seemed to be the welcome gift for the previous guest as there was a note attached to it from the GM. I enjoyed the chocolate even though it wasn't mine. Luggage delivery took a while, as well.

I knew the hotel is on Sentosa island, but I have never thought it was THAT isolated. You can't walk anywhere. There is no beach access, despite it is on an island! The hotel is located at the end of the road, dead end actually and it feels like that. The shuttle bus service is a total joke, and goes only like 3 times per day (!) to the Resorts World Sentosa, one way only, so you have to take a taxi back. And the shuttle bus fully booked all the time anyway. No bus to Marina Bay Sands. There is also no public bus or subway. Taxi is the ONLY way to get anywhere. There are no Taxis waiting, so they have to call one in for you, and it can take up to 30 mins. I stayed at the Shangri-La Sentosa last year and they have a public shuttle bus station that goes every 15 minutes to Resorts World Sentosa, and they have a beach too, in addition to the pool.

No taxi driver in the city knows the W Singapore. So expect to show them the way.

There is also no shuttle bus to the beaches on Sentosa island.

The breakfast was disappointing as well. They don't seem to like to hand out smoked salmon, and other stuff, that are a bit more costly to them. When you are lucky you get 2 or 3 tiny slices. They had no fresh bread. Only toast. Shocking to see that especially as the hotel has a French GM.

There are 2 dining options, "Skirt" and "Kitchen table". "Skirt" seemed to be an overpriced steak house. "kitchen table" is supposed to have wood-fired pizzas, although I never saw one in the 3 days. From the website: "Explore the extensive selection of international flavors at our interactive series of live cooking stations serving everything from Chinese dim sum and Thai noodles to Japanese sushi, wood-fired pizza and Indian tandoori. And of course there is always the “Explore Your Options” la carte menu, featuring local specialties like Nasi Lemak and innovative Western flavors, like a Baked Gruyere Tart and Barolo Spiced Pears with Arugula, Candied Walnuts and Triple Brie. To top it all off, try our tempting desserts and perfectly paired beverages."

So there is ALWAYS the a la carte menu? Really? I was told every evening (3 times) that there is only buffet. So I waited for a taxi and drove off to MBS each evening for dinner.

On the first day, housekeeping showed up, but they missed to clean the toilet.
On the second day, housekeeping didn't show up. So I had to ask 4 times to have the room cleaned up, and this took from 11AM to 5PM to be done (I spent 4 hours in the city, and waited another 2 hours in the lobby to have the room cleaned up). I have only realized that they missed to bring towels to the room after I took a shower.

Just back from an unsatisfactory weekend stay. Should have read this before booking and what I can do is to warn fellow travelers now

The issues I have are :
1. Went at 3.30pm to check in. Was told assigned room on 6th floor was not ready. Was told they will call me, so went to the bar to wait. At 415pm, went to the same reception counter (by the way, they have 2 staff per counter and despite this, they take about 5-10 mins to attend to each check in/out!). The 2 staff looked at me as if they had seen me for the first time and ask how may they help me. So i reminded them and they went oh..did some clicking of mouse for a couple minutes and then told me another 30 mins.
At 445pm, they finally contacted me and told me they have found anther room for me.
Went to the room, and realize it was an accessible room. Now, I suppose there were no other guests who required those rooms and I generally do not mind those rooms if I was asked before that. Other hotels that I go to usually will ask if I am ok to use an accessible rooms (since some features are missing eg no glass door at shower area so the entire bathroom floor tends to be wet). We decided not to request a change else I may not get another room till later

2. As mentioned earlier, slow check in process. There seems to be a lot of clicking of the mouse.

2. Breakfast was a disorganized affair. Food was spread over several counters and some of the counters had bar counter seats (.ie guests sitting in front of the food). So that makes taking food a little difficult. Each counter is supposed to be manned by a staff but when the staff is not there for some reasons, u would think u can walk inside the counter to get the food. Seen the staff asking guests to step out of counter. Well. The hotel has to ensure there is always someone to man the counter at all times!

4. Platinum amenity. I realised later in the evening i away not asked about the amenity. My rate already included full breakfast, so that is not an amenity. I decided to enquiry at checkout. I was told that there is no platinum amenity or recognition offered in W hotel, maybe in the future but not at this moment. Now, is that true? If so, SPG should state clearly that W Singapore does not recognize SPG status at all.
I was wondering if my room upgrade was taken as an amenity ? Was assigned a Fabulous room.
Let's see if they will post the 500 points into my account despite what they said. Even then, I do not like what I hear. Seems W hotels are way too classy for you plat members.

5. They only provide bath amenities ( i mean shampoo, shower gel) for one person. W Hongkong always placed two sets, and in most other 5 star hotels I stayed in.

For all visitors to Singapore, if you plan to stay on Sentosa, the hotel to go for is the Sentosa Spa and Resort. Followed by Shangrila Sentosa Resort, and then the hotels at the casino.

Forget about W and all the hype. They are not giving value for your bucks, and for platinums, forget it.
If you need the stay to get your stay qualification, stay for a night and move to the other hotels for the remaining nights.

W Singapore

Some had reviewed about the pillows on tripadvisor. It does not work for me too. I stacked 3 pillows on each other and my head still sink ont the bed. I am used to pillows that support my neck

The bed is not firm too. For tHose who like firm beds like Westin's heavenly, this will provide an uncomfortable sleep together with the pillows.

I know some people like it this way, but was really uncomfortable for me

Further to my earlier post above, I forgot about the 6 starred Capella on Sentosa. Yes, that should be the first choice for people wanting to stay on Sentosa island. W ranks way below the family styled Shangrila Sentosa and Hard Rock Sentosa. Waste of money for a weekend local stay

Wow....some of you are so picky! It was the hotel's opening week!

Sure we experienced some hiccups but nothing to get worked up about.

Here is a hastily shot video of the suite we had a few days after opening:
