If you're really worried about it, spend the 1-2 minutes to go to the Marriott website & spend $12.50 to buy 1,000 points. They'll get deposited within a few minutes/hours.

Cheers.

Send an e-mail thru the form on their website. They usually answer within 24 hours.

So far NO Reply from Marriott Rewards!!!

Twickenham said they usually get back within 24 hours, not a guarantee they'll get back within 24 hours. MRCS is closed on the weekends so the earliest you'll hear back is Monday.

Since your points aren't due to expire (and they won't) for another month, I wouldn't worry. FWIW - my guess is MRCS will just quote the T&Cs.

Again, if you're that concerned, spend the $12.50, get the 1,000 points (which adds to your balance), and move on. I do know from experience that the points show up very quickly in your account when purchased.

Cheers.

I didnt think their points expired. If i was in your shoes i would just apply for Marriott Rewards CC. That will solve the problem.

Or simply buy 1,000 points for $12.50 and avoid the hassle of applying for a credit card!

Honestly, I've stayed a few times at Marriott here and there over the past 20 years and have certainly had more than a 2 year gap in stays. My points have never expired.

Points expiring

Hi all

I have 3,236 points that are expiring in the next 2 months. Do you think I can use them to redeem for any night stays? If not, what is the best usage of these points from a transfer perspective?

thanks
Parag

Points expiring

not enough for a free night :-)

While Marriott technically has a policy that points expire, from what they've said they don't enforce it. Having said that, you just need some activity in your account. You can buy 1,000 points for $12.50 on the Marriott website to keep the account alive.

Cheers.

Or get together with a friend who has 6,764 points and split a room at the Courtyard to do some plane spotting.

i have hundreds of thousands of points that i've been hoarding for a rainy day.. i know that they beome "devalued" as time goes on-- but how can i find out if/when they expire? Is there a place on the Marriott website that shows this?

Technically they expire after 12 months of no activity. However, Marriott has stated in the past they don't really enforce it.

However, if you're worried about them & haven't stayed at a Marriott brand in a year, you can spend $12.50 to buy 1,000 points, stay at an inexpensive property, or buy something cheap through the Marriott mall.

Cheers.

My wife's account had no activity for over 10 years (she wanted to be a stay-at-home mom when the kids were younger.) I had forgotten about her account until a few years ago and all her points were still there. ^ And while that will "probably" still be the case with accounts/points today, Marriott could at any point in time change their minds and decide to start enforcing their inactivity clause. Hopefully, they would send out a notice, but there is not guarantee of that either.

So if it isn't too much hassle, I'd suggest trying to get some type of activity on your account at least once a year (just to play it safe.)

Also, if you don't have one of the Marriott CC's, those can be a very easy way to keep your account active (and get some nice bonus points in the process.)

thanks guys.... I think it makes sense to make some quick purchase of points and save them :)
