Did you try the egg tarts? They are famous. What about the almond cookies sold everywhere in the city? Did you try the hotpot restaurant in the mall next to the hotel?

Internet speeds
Platinum access allows for free wifi and hard line connected internet for up to 3 devices.
I did speed tests at 8pm local time from the room to see if this was usable for business work. It definitely was, here are some test results: Wifi (tested on ipad using the speedtest.net app): Server/Ping/Download Speed/Upload Speed Macau/73ms/2.43Mbps/2.72Mbps Katmandu/378/1.02/0.66 Singapore/127/1.58/2.71 Hard line connection (tested on laptop connected directly to the LAN port) Macau/0ms(wow)/2.93/2.92 Singapore/35/2.91/2.73 New York/235/2.63/0.95 All in all great results- a very stable connection capped at 3Mbps for download/upload. Plenty enough for skype video and conference calls. |

Great, I will definitely try those!
We plan to stay at the Sheraton Macao over New Year. Would anyone have suggestions re dining / watching fireworks at New Year's Eve? I read somewhere that "Avenida da Praia Grande" or outside "The Lisboa" are good places to watch. But I've never been to Macao before. As Plat for life, we were upgraded to an 'executive suite' (3226) that was a full 2-room suite with 1.5 bathrooms, with the main bath including a footed tub and separate shower. Great view, too. Very nice. In general, the service was top-notch. The Executive Lounge Director, Alexander, introduced himself to us and made it clear that he was at our service. The Executive Lounge featured a large buffet breakfast as well as a happy hour. The lounge was PACKED for breakfast, with a long queue. But hey, it was NYE. And staff was very apologetic, explaining that they had sold a lot of holiday packages that included lounge access. They kept taking a part of the queue down to the main restaurant as seating opened down there. We took NYE dinner at the restaurant Bene for a prix fixe of HK$1288 pp. It was a fantastic dinner, but we did have an issue with a couple of SCREAMING children in the restaurant. After several complaints we were told that they market this property as 'family friendly,' so it is what it is. That said, the assistant F&B manager, Anna, did re-seat us and provided a couple of fantastic cocktails by way of compensating for the burst eardrums. Again, it came down to awesome customer service trumping a tough situation. Dinner included access to the NYE party and two drinks each. That was good fun. We did a 90-minute couples massage and the spa was very, very nice. The couples massage facility was the best I have seen and we have done couples massages all over the world. The only downside to the visit was how much we dropped on craps at the Himalaya casino. ;) When the second tower opens next month, it will be (as they constantly remind you) the largest Sheraton in the world. For all that, the service was quite personal, the upgrade was fabulous and we had a great stay. http://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...80304789_n.jpg http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...14229948_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...50979081_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...96145468_n.jpg |
we werent lucky about the upgrade....
we stayed there for a couple of nights for my birthday... we got a weak upgrade to a suite with no view ( DESERT VIEW ??? )..... staff at lounge were friendly and i could take the hotels wheelchair to our sidetrip to hong kong for a couple of days ( just broke my leg some days before going to macao ) ... after returning from hong kong we had a stay at the conrad... as a diamond i was upgraded to much better suite than at the sheraton with an awesome view over the strip. Also preferred the staff of the Conrad.... |

But, it was an awesome suite. |
would have preferred a standard room with strip view instead of the desert/conrad towers view....
just expected more after the reviews as it was my birthday and they promised something really special ^^ still a decent property.... |

My wife and I stayed at this property December 30-Jan 1.

And staff was very apologetic, explaining that they had sold a lot of holiday packages that included lounge access. We actually heard from a staff member that they're thinking about reducing the number of club rooms in the future to limit lounge occupancy... To get to the old town part of Macao we took the free shuttle bus from the City of Dreams Hotel (about 5-10 min. walk from Sheraton; after entering CoD Hotel take the escalator down to where the buses leave; choose the "Sintra" bus since in the old town area the stop is in front of Sintra Hotel.) We left Macao taking the Cotaijet to Hong Kong. The Sheraton provides a free shuttle bus directly to the ferry terminal, very convenient. |
I've never been to Macau and I might go for a day trip there at the end of January... i will for sure stop by the Sheraton to check it out. It sounds huge. Is the 2nd tower open now?
Too bad I already booked all my nights on prepaid rates in HK... otherwise i would have tired my luck at this Sheraton for 1 night in a suite :D |

Stayed there on the 27th for 1 night with my family at the special promo rate HK$888++ (including tax around HK$1000, around US$130), the room was upgraded to Executive suite due to that we found a broken comb and almost hurt while using it from our previous stay.
Nothing fancy but definitely an enjoyable stay, the second tower (Earth tower) has opened since yesterday adding 2xxx more rooms to Sheraton Macau which makes it officially THE largest in terms of room nummber. While there are 2 Starwood propertieis now in Macau with Westin in Cologne, I would say take the opening offer or go for Cash & Points before they raise up the cost of it! http://www.spgpromos.com/cashandpoin...Chng_PROMOTION |
Wonder how many staff are working in this hotel...

[email protected] Thyetus Lee | Social Media Specialist Starwood Customer Contact Centre (AP) Pte Ltd Unfortunately, egg tarts are lost on me (I did try them). I brought almond cookies back for my coworkers; they loved them. I did buy kgs of BBQ meat from Ko Kei Bakery: yummy. We didn't have time for lunch (breakfast was too big): we ate back in Hong Kong that night. |
Arrived the hotel main entrance by taxi from Macau ferry terminal (around 70HKD). I went past the SPG checkin section and the main lobby area and ended up at the south entrance before headed back toward the east set of elevators to the sky tower to reach the Sheraton Club on the fourth floor. I was told by hotel security to use the farthest elevator (the elevators used for conference rooms and parking garage) instead of the guest floors to reach the fourth floor. When I got there, it was difficult to find the club since the sign was posted by the guest floor elevators and not the conference room elevators.
I was greeted by tons of club attendants outside the club and asking me if I was there for breakfast (it around breakfast time Monday morning). I told them I was checking in (not sure why they asked me since I was lugging a piece of luggage; which I did not give to the bell person at the entrance). I provided my passport and credit card to one of the attendants behind the counter in the club and was ushered to breakfast before they have completed my check in process. Another attendant brought my passport, credit card, and room key to me a bit later at the breakfast table. Breakfast was great compared to other "club" breakfast, but SUBstandard compared to other asian SPG properties' "Platinum" breakfast offered at the restaurants. The evening cocktail hours was fine, but nothing fancy. They served some very underwhelming ribs, some other snacks which I did not partake. Local beers, cheap wine, and soft drinks were available. I did like that they provided Fiji water -) I was upgraded to the Executive Suite (I was actually a bit disappointed since they have so many rooms and I was only there for one night on Monday!). When I got to the room, I was anxious to see if I can see the Venetian. Nope. I got a room with very dirty windows (massive contruction project behind the Sheraton) near the eastside (Venetian is west of Sheraton). The room is quite large, but very stale. The bath products were the basic sheraton ones (which I hate). I thought they would have something better. Overall, I am not impressed with the "hard" products of the hotel. Along with the rest of Macau's casinos. It is not like Vegas; no entertainment to speak of. Doesn't have the feel.... The casinos are very stale as well. Other SPG hotel in Asia have more personality than this property. |
Spent 2 nights last weekend and was impressed. Very good club staff and good club breakfast. Never had high hopes for a casino hotel but this one is much better than what i expected!

I booked two nights on the "Stay, Play and Shop" promo.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/membe...-stay-play.jpg No one at SPG Plat Concierge or at the hotel (by phone) seems to know anything about how the ferry works. It seems I can only use this for my post-departure trip rather than my inbound. Is this right? Has anyone used this before? They also couldn't tell me which Cotai ferries are part of the promo (e.g. to which destination in HK and what the corresponding schedule is). Ideally, they would give me 1 roundtrip ferry vs. a 1-way ticket for 2 since I am travelling solo, but maybe I'll gift a stranger at the ferry dock or something. Would be nice to similarly break out the included meals "for 2." Ignoring the promotion, can someone advise the easiest way to the hotel after arriving on int'l flight (from MNL) to HKG on CX? Which ferry company is most convenient from airport to Cotai (taking into account schedule frequency and location at HKG and Macau). FWIW, I arrive on CX at 1045am on a Friday. Thanks. |
