No one at SPG Plat Concierge or at the hotel (by phone) seems to know anything about how the ferry works. It seems I can only use this for my post-departure trip rather than my inbound. Is this right? Has anyone used this before? They also couldn't tell me which Cotai ferries are part of the promo (e.g. to which destination in HK and what the corresponding schedule is).

Ideally, they would give me 1 roundtrip ferry vs. a 1-way ticket for 2 since I am travelling solo, but maybe I'll gift a stranger at the ferry dock or something. Would be nice to similarly break out the included meals "for 2."

Ignoring the promotion, can someone advise the easiest way to the hotel after arriving on int'l flight (from MNL) to HKG on CX? Which ferry company is most convenient from airport to Cotai (taking into account schedule frequency and location at HKG and Macau). FWIW, I arrive on CX at 1045am on a Friday.

Hey Andy! There are free shuttles from both ferry piers to the Sheraton, though the Taipa pier is closer to the hotel. From HKG, you definitely want the Hong Kong Airport Skypier ferry terminal. Given there are only three sailings per day on Cotaijet from HKIA to Macau (one at 7 a.m. to the outer ferry terminal and ones at 1:15 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. to Taipa), Cotaijet will be suboptimal for you anyway and the Turbojet 12 p.m. sailing from the airport to the Macau Maritime Ferry Terminal is your best option:

One other suggestion: if you're not wedded to your CX flight, both PAL and Cebu Pacific have non-stop flights between Manila and Macau, which would be more convenient. And you'd get to play the "show me" game on Cebu!

The evening cocktail hours was fine, but nothing fancy. They served some very underwhelming ribs, some other snacks which I did not partake. Local beers, cheap wine, and soft drinks were available. I did like that they provided Fiji water -)

I was upgraded to the Executive Suite (I was actually a bit disappointed since they have so many rooms and I was only there for one night on Monday!). When I got to the room, I was anxious to see if I can see the Venetian. Nope. I got a room with very dirty windows (massive contruction project behind the Sheraton) near the eastside (Venetian is west of Sheraton). The room is quite large, but very stale. The bath products were the basic sheraton ones (which I hate). I thought they would have something better.

Overall, I am not impressed with the "hard" products of the hotel. Along with the rest of Macau's casinos. It is not like Vegas; no entertainment to speak of. Doesn't have the feel.... The casinos are very stale as well. Other SPG hotel in Asia have more personality than this property.

Came to Macau for another one night stay. Arrived after 10AM, took the shuttle bus from Macau Ferry Terminal and got to the East entrance. From there, I got lost again since I turned off a bit too early and was proceeded to the Earth Tower instead of Sky. Doubled back and tooked the elevator to the 4th floor. This time I tooked the guest floor elevator. There were one greeter outside, who took me to the desk. They had some problem checking me in and asked me to take a seat. Instead of sitting at the bar area to wait for them, I went to have breakfast. The staff at the dining room was not attentive at all. I had to flagged three staff before someone would come over to ask what I wanted. Again, they upgraded me to an Executive suite (the same floor as last time facing south instead of north an xxx3) towards the east side (far away from the elevator).

Would have been nice to have had a choice of more than 1 white and 1 red, but they did have a sparkling as well so not to bad at all.

All in all we really enjoyed the hotel and found the lounge staff to be excellent and friendly as well, no complaints at all, which for me I am told is quite unusual!!

I finally got around to writing my review from my stay a while back. I have to say, the service was some of the best I'd experienced and the room was full of brand new furniture that seemed untouched. Definitely not your standard Sheraton, although the bath amenities were. Full review here (assuming I can post my own link in this section).

I stayed here a few days before New Year's and really enjoyed the property. They were still working out a few kinks, but the staff tried very hard, and I enjoyed the property itself.

And of course the location is right in the middle of the Cotai Strip - hard to beat. If you're going for Starpoints admist the action in Macau, this is the place.

I personally prefer the format of the blog, plus there are other incentives that everyone is well aware of. That's not to say I don't discuss things on FT - I feel I can do both.

My experience (5 hours total)

I walked in at 5am without a reservation and asked for a 1 night stay using SPG points. With my Plat status, I figure things should be easy to set up.

Took about 30 mins for the staff to figure out how to apply my free rewards and I was essentially asked to use a nearby computer, log into SPG, make reservation, and wait until it gets posted in the hotel's system. They were sincere and apologetic.

They escorted me to the presidential suite about 900+ sq ft. Everything was good. Had a bottle of wine, but no opener. Called front desk for help. A roomservice showed up and messed up the cork and I had to take over and surgically remove what was left.

The hotel is great - one of the biggest I have seen. I went there went it was only 2 months old, althought the staff were less than perfect, they wer fully staffed and multi-langual.

Unless that "+" is equivalent to about 1,000 square feet, you weren't in one of the Presidential Suites. Sounds like you were in an Executive or Deluxe Suite.

I just finished a stay here and it was a mix of highs and lows. Suites aplenty to be had here, and the upgrade into a Deluxe Suite for a room that cost USD 120 to book is pretty tough to beat in terms of value for money. The room itself was shiny and new, which isn't a surprise considering that the hotel is a year old, but I was constantly noticing just how fresh everything looked.

With that being said, there are some obvious pitfalls. There's no gift shop or store to buy travel essentials/sundries, despite the fact that the hotel is attached to a mammoth mall. Room service was pretty awful. The shower has ample space, but it has lousy water pressure. And -- notably -- English language skills among the staff is VERY hit-or-miss. At checkin and in the club lounge, every staff member speaks excellent English; because the hotel is overstaffed in the lounge, you'll often be greeted by four or five early-20s staffers welcoming you in perfect, unaccented English to the lounge. Elsewhere, though, it's pretty poor.

Wrapping up a 2 night stay. At the old c&p rate a good deal indeed, used SNA to confirm exec suite which was changed upon request to family suite.

The room was the best part, if you are with kids which are, say, below 12, they will love it. Fun bunk bed, Wii, decoration, the works. Perfect.

The club, as said, is huge, and staff are very friendly. While the food selection equals a smaller version of a full buffet main restaurant, we weren't always impressed by the quality of F&B.

Other than that, the property is a vast, rather soul-less casino and shopping center. The pool areas are nothing to write home about, and they close down at 6pm (the nicer one) and 8:30pm in order to push people to the casino (I guess).

For a future stay I'd probably go back to the Westin, while a bit old it is clearly the more charming SPG hotel in Macau. When wanting to be on the strip I liked the grand hyatt better.

On a side note, we went for lunch at Rebouchon au Dome. To cut a long story short, this place would NEVER be a 3 star restaurant anywhere in Europe. I feel the Michelin testers have given in to the big name and the location. Better go with some local Portuguese or Asian food.

I stayed there as a Gold as the end of June, no club room for me at least. But I was very pleased with my room anyway, view over the pool and The Venetian, handwritten welcome note in the room with a box of macarons. And of course, everything was new and shiny, don't think too many people had stayed in this room before.
