My last stay here featured less-than-stellar housekeeping service (toiletries not refreshed even when nearly empty, stains on towel, minibar never restocked during visit), which is in stark contrast to the past visits I wrote about. I might drop a line to the GM and see what he says. I've wanted to try the FS so might do that next time anyway.
To answer my own question on overnight garage self-parking in the area, 'AMLI on 2nd' has a garage with entrance on the east side of San Antonio St halfway between 2nd and 3rd. This is a public garage split between retail/movie theater parking and resident parking for the highrise. In this garage, there is an elevator on the east end that on the 1st floor exits onto Guadalupe, so from there it's basically across the street and around the block to the W.
The rate is quoted at $15max per 24hr and they've never charged me for my final day for whatever reason. Do note that a small sign at the bottom of the rate list says that weekends can vary from $15 up to $50 per 24hr depending on special events, so if you're there on a weekend it's probably a good idea to check with the parking attendant to make sure it's not on the high side of that.
I stayed in the 2br Marevlous nearly 2 years ago so my memory is a bit hazy on it. My recollection is that both bedrooms have bathrooms without doors, but there are doors between the bedrooms and the living area so it avoids the problem that the Cozy Corner Suite has. I've stayed in the corner suite my last two trips to this property and definitely agree with you that the open bathroom is awkward.
EDIT: I had thought I wrote my brief thoughts on the 2br Marvelous in this thread, but it was actually in the luxury hotels forum ( http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/luxur...tin-texas.html ).

Just got back from a 3 night stay... AAA rate, successfully used SNA for upgrade to Cool Corner.
Property Location is fantastic for Austin. Just blocks away from the bars, lots of great food, a nice long walk to the new SoCo shopping district, etc.
Front Desk was great... well staffed at noon time rush, offered water, recognized plat status without asking, room was ready (at noon).
Room was excellent: Cool Corner had a balcony, distinct living room with large sectional couch, bathroom was large, separate toilet shower, etc.
Plat Breakfast amenity was also excellent -- Living Room has a continental breakfast bar with Odwalla Bars, yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, etc... AND breakfast tacos which were fabulous.
Wet Pool: The pool space is gorgeous, lots of deck chairs, well staffed. Saturday is a packed party all afternoon long. We booked a cabana to guarantee space, had a great time. The pool is an odd 3 ft deep, but whatever.
Living Room at night was definitely an Austin hot spot. Spent a little while there, met lots of local Austinites -- lots of fun.
Concierge: i have high expectations of Concierge staff... here it was hit or miss... two folks were fantastic with dinner recos, etc... one was a little lame... we asked where we could find some great food trucks for lunch and the reply was more or less, "I dunno."
All in all, great property... W Cool is right on the money and we can't wait to go back!

Had a great (albeit short) stay here on Friday night. The concierge was great in coordinating a gift from the Spa for me to give to my girlfriend. We stayed in a Wonderful room on the 15th floor the room was much larger than I expected (previous experience with W was a Wonderful room at the W Washington DC). All of the staff I came in contract with were very very friendly. In the evening we had drinks at the Living Room Bar. The bar was filled with what was the most eclectic group of people I've ever encountered, Robert Earl Keen concert at ACL, normal Austin crowd, hotel guests, and people who were obviously at the end of their company christmas party. The next morning we ate at Trace for breakfast and really enjoyed it. Overall, I will definitely be back to this property and highly recommend it.

I had one of my last stays here before reaching Platinum. I didn't get any upgrades as Gold but loved the location. I would definitely stay here again. I've stayed at the Sheraton previously but this one takes the cake.

Are SNAs not applicable for the Cool Corner Suite at this hotel? I was hoping to use one for an upcoming stay, but the only online option is for an accessible version of the room I booked, which is a joke quite frankly. Looks like yet another hotel that plays games with upgrades...Space is available for sale in the Cool Corner Suite but nothing for upgrades...
May I ask you to provide your reservation confirmation number to us via private message or by email, so that we can look into this?

Cool corner suite, non-smoking", clearly a suite. So, things are alright, but someone might want to change the display of the room type to show that this is clearly a suite and not simply an accessible standard room. Thanks for the offer of assistance, but fortunately I am all set.

Re the SNA's at this hotel:
I also upgraded my standard room to the cool corner accessible one.
After the confirmation of the SNA, I received a pre-arrival note of the concierge - responded politely that I really appreciate the upgrade - but I would rather prefer a standard cool corner instead of the accessible one which was changed immediately.
Overall, I really liked the hotel. Nice rooms, cool restaurant and the pool on Sundays is pretty relaxing.

I have a question about the going rates for this property. Obviously, it's Austin, and it's the W so they fluctuate like crazy.
I'm seeing a AAA rate for 204 + taxes for the night I need. Am I correct in saying this is a really good rate for this property? Anyone seen any lower?
Thanks

I am here this week for the 3rd time in two years and once again loving it.
This is one of my fav W Hotels and the best I tried to far in North America (Also been to W Times Square, W Chicago Lakeshore, W NOLA FQ, W Chicago Downtown).
W Austin tops the list. Great people, well maintained, functional rooms, excellent F&B, good internet. Only thing I haven't tried here is the Spa.
Parking is valet only and comes in at 35.00 per day.
They are hiring now for the soon to be opened Westin Austin so I might try that next time just because its new but I think in the end this W will still be my go-to place here.

Well I was there two months ago. What would you like to know ?
It's a W... and in North America... so there isn't much happening for a Platinum.
I think I had a cool corner suite upgrade and that was it.
But do note that this property participates in Amex FHR so if you are Platinum or Cent Amex holder you might find attractive packages at this W via Amex with breakfast, F&B credits etc. After booking with Amex you can ask them for the Starwood Reservation # and manually retrieve the booking on SPG.com to enter your SPG number ahead of check-in.
