Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:

* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).

If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

My observations:
  • Cosmo has a very well-run Marriott Luxury Program, Luminous. I deal with them about once a month, and they work hard to ensure that Luminous Guests are given priority. Status is also taken into account. But, Luminous Booking > BonVoy Status. BonVoy Status is the "cherry on top." Welcome amenities, when requested are also nice. Lots of transparency with upgrade expectations and tier to tier upgrade lists.
  • Luminous gets a $75 per day breakfast benefit. It is currently ALSO valid for in-room dining. (there is some additional wink-wink here, but I won't put it in writing)
  • On the casino-side, Cosmo has pretty decent hosts and also pretty decent offers for those with good theo and who gamble.
  • You can get Bungalows (for $) but that is also negotiable and with Luminious Benefits. But, as noted, once you have a Wrap-Around-Terrace Suite -- not much more you can upgrade to (for free).
  • Things will get much worse, not better under MGM Resorts. Our Livestream from a month+ ago is on YouTube. The exception will be "solid" MGM Players who did NOT stay at Cosmo previously. I stopped staying at Cosmo years ago because of casino-side issues. But, I still appreciate the place, and totally understand why people love it (especially slot players).

Compare that with the published benefits for Bonvoy: "Access to the Autograph Lounge" for Platinum and above. ("Access to the Invited Guest Line" for Bonvoy Gold).
Odd that it's not explained more clearly on there. The autograph lounge is the old VIP lounge. It used to be for Identity Platinum only, but sometime (I think 2014?) they changed it to allow for Marriott elites as well, and then they created the new VIP lounge next door (for guests coded by their host only), so Identity Platinum access to the autograph lounges is one of those things that just has always been a thing. You can even walk in there and ask one of the front desk agents in there and they'll tell you Identity Platinum guests do have access there (you don't need a host or anything), although it's odd it's not reflected on their website.

Completed a 2 night stay at the Cosmopolitan mid-week right before NYE.
It was booked through Marriott with the Amex bonvoy brilliant. got the $300 bonvoy statement credit within a few days of booking.
They recognized the gold elite status at the invited guest desk and offered me a 52nd floor fountain view 1br Terrace after asking for available upgrades.
They also informed me of the Autograph lounge access and was able to grab coffee throughout the stay which was nice.
We mostly dined within the hotel due to late reservations and was able to get 6x back on everything using the brilliant.
Overall a very pleasant stay. I'll have to come back once more before it goes full-MGM.

Was trying to book a couple of nights here for August 2022. I noticed that even the best flexible rate requires a prepayment of the room rate, minus taxes and whatever other silly fees they pile on. Is this normal for the Cosmopolitan? I don’t want to prepay for stays during covid. I noticed even the Luminous (L72) rate is prepaid.

It is normal but generally if you cancel, you get that refunded back within a day or three.

Yes, It's normal as they require a partial deposit. I've done this quite frequently. If you cancel, your money is refunded pretty quickly. I have had experience with that too. The Cosmo is great. My favorite hotel in Vegas. Just came back from a 5 night stay there. Don't let the partial deposit deter you...

Thanks! Are they friendly to Ambassadors?

I've been staying at the Cosmo before I even had MB Gold Status. They were great to me even when I was a mere "peasant" lol. I think if you are respectful, kind, and chill without the "DYKWIA" attitude" - everything pays itself forward.

Make sure you pay attention to the MB benefits for the Cosmo. https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com...n-of-las-vegas

+1

I've experienced this at Cosmo. Recently I arrived at LAS and the airport transfer I had arranged (a benefit of Identity Platinum status) did not materialize. After a couple of phone calls I was already satisfied with the resolution, but I was (more or less) friendly about it. About 20 minutes later I got an unexpected call back from a customer service manager, who said that's not how they want to start my stay, and they gave both my room and my companions' room pretty sweet upgrades.

Status recognition at this place is not effusive, but mostly the Cosmo runs pretty well, and that despite covid challenges. It's friendly, and I've appreciated it a lot (~10 stays over the past 7 months).

I got zero Ambassador recognition on my recent stay at the Cosmo on my stay in December. I also found the overall quality of service at the property to be poor. The room and view of the fountain were spectacular. Even so, I have no plans to return (I'll be back in LV in about 10 days) as the lousy service turned me off. I may try them again once they transition to being an MGM property. Obviously YMMV.

Marriott status isn't really a thing here, it just gets you a $10 F&B credit and a 2pm checkout. And you can use the Autograph Lounge for check in and free coffee and waters.

Service generally is great though!

Depending on how you book it might be. Generally it's not if you book direct (through Cosmos website), but if you go through Marriott's website or a 3rd party booking site you may have to. Either way, their cancellation policy is almost always 72 hours, and the refunds post super quick if you do need to cancel.

Generally in Vegas you aren't going to get any kind of decent recognition unless you've got status with the casinos through their own loyalty program. Vegas resorts really only care about you if you're a big spender, or a big gambler, so while you will get a few perks for having Marriott status, it's by no means anything special (same with Hyatt status at MGM properties).

Some people with ambassador status show up thinking that they're going to get white glove treatment from Vegas hotels, because they're used to that kind of treatment at Marriott branded properties and don't really understand the very "thin" relationship these loyalty programs have with Vegas resorts. So as you have realistic expectations (especially when it comes to what kind of upgrades are available) you'll enjoy the property, as it's probably one of the best in Vegas.

100% this.

I switched from MGM/Mlife to Cosmo exclusively back when the resort opened, and even before I had status with them the staff was always super friendly and helpful. People sometime forget that the hospitality industry sucks to work in, especially at high end Vegas resorts, because so many people come in there, like you said, with the "DYKWIA" attitude. Being kind to front line workers, and remembering that they are people too, is the right thing to do obviously, but also can work in your favor in other ways as well.
