Not sure if someone discovered this since the Wiki was updated, but through Google, I was able to find a sign-up link for new accounts (not just adding new relationships to existing accounts) for the US Bank Visa Buxx card.
The account was activated and I received my first relationship card in the mail a few days ago. |
This post is only useful for San Francisco East Bay MSers, unless what is happening on Alcosta is a trend that is going Nationwide.
I had a very bad experience at Neighborhood Walmart on Alcosta, San Ramon. Regular cashier - load BB (my wife's). No problem (she says). How much? I tell her $1000. Without ANYTHING happening on my screen, she gets 'customer denied' (as though I had not accepted the charge to load BB). She decides to try $500. Same failure. I go to customer service to load Serve (in my name). CSR says 'need photo of driver's license and complete a form' which asks WAY too much info. Probably foolish, but I did it. The month is getting along and I need to load before it is gone. I load $500. It works. I say 'another $500' and she says 'that's all - one load is all you get.' Rather than argue, I made my exit. Very disappointed. |
I did some searching and people said last year that using BOA credit cards to load USB Buxx doesn't charge cash advance, but it also doesn't earn miles.
That said, I cannot use USB Buxx to make the new Virgin Atlantic $12k minimum spend then? |

I really don't understand why people post sensitive information for the world to see. You can easily share such information through PM, but divulging to the banks/bloggers/etc. that read these threads will inevitably kill the deal, as it has so many times before. And people wonder why information is not shared freely on FT anymore and longtime users have gone elsewhere to discuss things. FT MS forum: where good deals go to die.

Usbuxx ATM limit question. Is the $200 per pull limit enforced at usbank ATMs? I have been afraid to try pulling over $200 per transaction due to fear of incurring a penalty charge.
Right now I feel like an oddball at the ATM doing 12 transactions in a row to pull 2k cash (across 4 cards) |

Yes, be careful not to go over $200 per w/d because you will be charged .75 for failed transaction. Limit is $200 x 3 w/d, total of $600 per day. If you want to get more, go buy something at the grocery store that gives cashback for using debit card.

$200 is the max ATM withdrawal at a USB's own ATMs but it is not true that all failed txn incurs the 75 cent penalty. I have a couple times accidentally gotten miscounted and tried to draw more than $600 a day, the txn fails but I was not charged anything for the failed txn.

to clarify, I got charged .75 when I pressed the wrong button. I only had $40 remaining but instead of pressing fast cash withdrawal to get that amount, I think I chose $50 and thereby, exceeded my balance. Lesson learned and from then on, I was careful when making w/d.

Has anyone had any problems with US bank from just loading CC directly into the buxx card then withdrawing it all as cash? Seems like it would look sketchy.
