How is it any different than buying a VGC from any of those stores and liquidating via money order at the very same Kroger where I'm buying closed-loop gift cards? One way that it's different is that I can do thousands of dollars per Kroger trip, several trips per day, with no hassle from anyone at CS or at a bank when dealing with money orders or card loads, and have it all returned as cash within 2 weeks at 99-100% return. And it gets better since I can also use a credit card directly to purchase closed-loop gift cards as well, 1 fewer step than any money order or card load route. There is an increased risk since there is a 3rd party involved in the liquidation, but this route is easily scalable for me.

I took your advice through the rest of the weekend and had mixed success with $499.99 and $250 transactions. $499.99 was about 50% successful, $250 was 100% successful until Sunday evening, when 3 different Vanillas were getting "Not authorized" errors at SCO.
