That's a lot of hoops (and time-wasting) to jump through for an extra 1x pts. Not to mention it still doesn't explain why you'd do it for:

"Vanilla Incomm from CVS, Vanilla Incomm from WM, SS from WM"

How is it any different than buying a VGC from any of those stores and liquidating via money order at the very same Kroger where I'm buying closed-loop gift cards? One way that it's different is that I can do thousands of dollars per Kroger trip, several trips per day, with no hassle from anyone at CS or at a bank when dealing with money orders or card loads, and have it all returned as cash within 2 weeks at 99-100% return. And it gets better since I can also use a credit card directly to purchase closed-loop gift cards as well, 1 fewer step than any money order or card load route. There is an increased risk since there is a 3rd party involved in the liquidation, but this route is easily scalable for me.

I took your advice through the rest of the weekend and had mixed success with $499.99 and $250 transactions. $499.99 was about 50% successful, $250 was 100% successful until Sunday evening, when 3 different Vanillas were getting "Not authorized" errors at SCO.

How do you return a closed loop gift card for cash?

Sell. Sorry, I see how the way I worded it with "return" was confusing. I meant that my spend is returned, completing my loop. There also is a market for the fuel points that are earned at 4x.

I've not been able to get 409758 to go for a couple of weeks now, in the North Dallas area.

Did you try calling CS on this issue?

I've tried 8 different cards, varying amounts. Someone posted earlier they are getting similar results at self checkout.

Monday. Mid Michigan. Bought $490 vanilla. Did a 1.45 purchase to set pin. Waited a day. Then bought the MO. Will drain the remaining 1.05 next grocery run.
