I, along with several others, attempted this same strategy with Amazon Local Register. I was able to get that to work for about 3 weeks before they shut me down. Fortunately I had daily deposits to my bank account set up, so I didn't lose any money or have it held for 6 months. Good luck OP. YMMV. ATKOT. IMO.

Firstly, not sure why some of the replies got a bit heated; sounded kind of like Square reps lol.
I'll just add a DP that I did this for over a year before getting shut down. Worth it to set up another account once a year? You bet.
Luckily, they did not freeze my money toward the end. Lucky for them, I'll just leave it at that.

However, companies such as PP and Amazon don't live in a bubble and have definitely shown that they can evolve as business events transpire. That includes discovering how their business model is being abused by MS techniques.
I did note that you used the word "did" which means that you had an account for a year but no longer do. Nor did you say that you were successful in opening a new account (at least for any length of time).
So my question to you is simply...are you currently running with the Square account for MSing?
And did you try to reup and were you successful or shut down in short order?
Answers to those questions will be quite useful to everyone

For what it's worth my square account is still active and I made my minimum spend requirements and received my points bonus. I just needed a few extra K to hit minimum spend requirements and am not planning on doing any long term MS techniques with this method. Do with that info as you will.

I suspect that if you are running a real business that utilizes Square on a routine and robust fashion as it was designed for, then slipping in some MSing between the normal volume of charges is going to succeed. It appears that from the above that you have accomplished that.
However, for the heavy duty MSer, that is not their intention for using Square. And Square appears ready to shut that cohort of people down lickity split when they crop up in the system.
