Summary of Supported Payments by Card Brand
https://support.plastiq.com/s/article/supported-payments-by-card-brand

Official word from Plastiq regarding Visa Business cards that was asked which was previously thought it applied to only Visa Personal cards
Plastiq is unable to support mortgage payments on any Visa credit cards. This is an industry-wide mandate that affects all third-party bill payment services. Please note that mortgage payments are also unsupported for credit cards issued by U.S. Bank or Capital One and AMEX.

Plastiq Fees:
Standard Plastiq card payment processing fee is 2.9%. This puts most of the credit cards out of the reward range. Plastiq turns itself into a niche position to earn new card bonus or status threshold. Some CCs may still work.
It makes most of the reward programs not profitable. Use Plastiq to meet welcome bonus spending requirement or to meet certain spend requirements to reach elite status or for large spend bonus. Also take advantage of Plastiq referrals and promotions.

Delivery Fees (The Plastiq Ch. 11 restructure now added some delivery fees):
ACH/EFT/Electronic $0.99
Paper Check $1.49
Wire Transfer: Domestic/International $8.99/$39

This is the thread for 2018 and forward. The previous discussion can be found here.
Updated Nov-2018: A lot of the personal Visa CCs can't be used at Plastiq. Some will be treated as cash advance and won't receive any rewards. Only Capital One personal Visa CCs are not affected. Business Visa CCs are still good. The best CCs are Mastercard and Discover. AmEx CCs can still be used, but not on many of the payment types. Chase personal Visa cards are limited to the cash advance limit (typically 20% of CL). The details are listed as below:

Plastiq Referrals:
Standard Referral: When you refer your friend to Plastiq, after your friend charges $500 or more, your friend will get $500 ($0?) FFDs (fee free dollar) and you'll receive $1,000 ($100) FFDs to spend.

All personal prepaid Gift Cards (GCs) are disallowed. Not sure what "business" gift card can be used.

Ask and ye shall receive. Got this a few minutes ago from Plastiq:

Hi [Coffeeman],

We wanted to reassure you that the check for your payment - [Check] - have been sent via mail. While your check was processed through Silicon Valley Bank, whose operations were paused and then taken over by the FDIC, all funds held at SVB have been guaranteed and all checks will be honored.

Please ask your vendor to deposit the check as soon as they can.

Are there competitors or similar services who accept more cards?

Trying to make a car payment and Plastiq is rejecting everything I have besides Discover.

'Visa doesn't allow these payments' 'Amex isn't supported' 'You can't use CapitalOne' - every card, something like that.

Melio will only allow "business" related payments. They will reject payments they decide are not business related.

2.9% fee for Melio using CC or DC unless you’re grandfathered in. It’s also hard to get approved.

I gave up Plastiq. They make it too hard to use their “service”…and the fees are too high….I too would be interested in other options.

Exclamation

Plastiq purchase using Barclays Business MC was coded as a "business transaction" by Plastiq and points were not applied on the CC statement. Transaction went through with no problem. Anyone else have this happen with MC?

I successfully used Plastiq with my Amex last week. Now I'm getting:

We are experiencing a temporary outage with our American Express integration. While we work on a fix, please try and use another card for any urgent payments. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Plastiq processed payment but never charged my card

Last week I received email confirmation from Plastiq that my scheduled rent payment was processed, and my landlord confirmed receipt of the payment two days ago. However, my credit card was never charged.

I’ve been using Plastiq for rent for 4-5 years and this has never happened. Plastiq always charges me the day they say they’re going to process the payment, which is several days before my landlord receives the payment.

Did they forget to charge me? It’s already been a week since they were supposed to charge my card and the money is already in my landlord’s account. Has anyone heard of this or experienced something similar?

This is why back office auditing departments exist. Before long, Plastiq's books are going to be off and some little mouse with eyeshades is going to pore over their books and discover that your credit card wasn't charged for the rental payment.
If they are nice, they'll notify you that your card is going to be charged $XX for the payment. But many times they aren't and don't let you know the charge is coming and just surprise you with it sometime in the future and that can be months in the future.
On occasion, they miss the boat and it is up to you to decide if you want to be honest or not, and let them know

Yes they did. About 10 days after the payment was delivered, they finally charged me.
