Deposit it to your checking account. You will need to complete a CTR and the bank will likely file a SAR too. Don't try to split up deposits to evade reporting requirements as this is a crime.
Presuming that the cash is from a legitimate source, you have no worries.

Why do any of this? Just fill out the Make a Payment form at the table, enter your CC# in the account number portion of the form and make the money order out to Chase. Hand form and money orders to teller and payment is posted to CC account. It doesn't even have to touch your checking account

I deposit cash into my Chase checking account all the time, although I pay the CC's from a different account. If I were to deposit cash and a week later pay a CC from the Chase account would that raise any flags? Most of my deposits are between $500 and $2000 mostly from people giving me cash as reimbursement for things I put on CC or if I get a bit crazy at the casino.

So it sounds like the occasional pay off with MOs is fine, yes? I've got a $2k bill and want to use MOs at the local branch rather than ACH payment.

Why not just stuff it into an ATM?
On main subject, cash for CC is fine (just did it). Just dont get it anywhere near $10k. Even if you are close to $10k they might file a CTR. Its whenever they feel like it.
I disarmed the situation by telling them to put it straight into the chase cc. I told them that it will save me a few minutes by not going home and waiting it to clear and logging in.
I do this once in a blue moon as well. Once or twice a year. If they have a pattern of you doing deposits of a few thousand every week or two, you're obviously going to be in their crosshairs haha
