Bought $2k/day across 4 cards/day on sat, sun, mon, all respecting 24-hr limit. But tues (after 24-hrs) got denied after scanning ID, same for weds. Pretty sure it’s not the card, has to be the ID, but I’ve made sure to try after 24-hrs. Anyone else experience similar?

Are you saying you were denied after 48 hours? |

I am trying to buy a $500 gift card at CVS using PayPal linked to my Freedom Flex, but I keep getting an error at the register that says "Timeout Error, Maximum System or Customer Response Time Exceeded." I get an email from PayPal immediately saying they couldn't complete the transaction and to contact them. When I reach out, PayPal says it's an issue with the linked card, not them. Chase says it's an issue with the merchant, not the card. Any ideas why this is happening?

I had this last month in two separate stores (same town) paying with Qr code using Venmo. Resolved itself a few days later, so I'd wait and try again in a couple of days.

Hi,
The very first VGC with a brand new CC seems to always trigger a fraud alert. Have to call in for resolution. is it normal for all issuers or just certain banks? Also any way around this? TIA |
Yes it is normal with brandy new cc. Banks don’t like to see big dollar purchases on new cc. Has happened to me with few cc and had to call fraud department and tell them that large purchases will be the norm. They notate account so fraud alerts stop. Have to start slow with new cc before banging out the $500 GC buys steadily. Once they see your buyer patterns the alerts will stop. This too shall pass!

Anyone know how to cash an old Western Union money order? have several MO that are more than 1 year old. looks like there is a monthly fee kicks in after a year. I tried to cash it at BOA got a bounce and chargeback as I don't know the monthly fee thing. Now what is the right way to deposit/cash the money orders? Thanks

I know it is off this thread but since most people are doing money orders at CVS so maybe someone encountered the something. I am still waiting to get my money order back from BOA, and a follow up question would be, if the money order is valued less than the face value now, am I still be able to cash it out at banks/grocery store, or is replacement/refund from western union the only option. Thanks

Not sure why this is in the CVS thread, but: I imagine if you call, they can verify the amount and validity of the money order. I know there is a phone system on the MO stub with an automated system for MoneyGram and I'm assuming the same is available for WU.

What you need to do is contact WU or MG and tell them that you have stale MOs and need to have them replaced with fresh ones. They are happy to do that (for a fee of course ). The one time I got into this, the time and paperwork for the refund is amazing and the fee was $37 for a $500 MO. Call their CS line. They can direct you to the appropriate service center. |
Thanks, I will call WU when they are open on Monday.

You have what is referred to as a "stale" MO. If you try to use it, either WU or MG will reject and return it and you will have to pay the return fees as well as any other charges that may occur due to a returned item.
