Hi XXXXXXX,
This is an update regarding transactions on Plastiq. I've seen a lot of inquiries lately as to which cards we can accept for which transactions. I'd like to clarify this by outlining which industries/payments are supported:
American Express: Government, Utilities, Education, Residential Rent, and Club Fees & Memberships are the only supported industries
Discover: All industries are supported
MasterCard: All industries are supported
Visa: All industries are supported (with the exception of mortgage payments)
Please let me know if you'd like to make a payment in a specific industry, but do not have a card on file that can be used due to restrictions for that industry. I can assist in ensuring you will have no interruptions with any payments you need to make for your business. We can also explore other options available to you and your business.
I'm always available to answer any questions you may have.
Best,
XXXXXXX

Added my mortgage today as a new recipient (servicer changed), and got the Visa error. If I made a payment with a Mastercard once, would I be able to switch to my CIP Visa for the next month? (I do have another mortgage that is still working with CIP Visa).

"unfortunately, you would need to add your recipient as new for ACH funding and they create new payments for this functionality. our system wasn't designed to change over the funding method. sorry for the extra work " Plastiq CC

I am trying to make my first Plastiq payment to Cenlar (Mortgage). Should i pay with Mastercard first and switch to Visa (CIP)?. Or because its coded as Rent in Plastiq, i am ok to start with Visa CIP?. Also, should i lower my CA or anything?.

Does CIP code 3x for all types of payments or just Rent/Real Estate? I'm able to pay my property tax through Plastiq, but need it to code 3x to make it worthwhile.

IME, property tax coding for Plastiq varies from county to county. For MC, sometimes it comes as Miscellaneous Govt Svcs, and sometimes it codes as Utilities. No idea if either category codes as 3x on CIP, but regardless I wouldn’t do it unless you’re comfortable with the possibility that it may code as 1x.
