Using refundable air ticket for MS
Is there any catch to use fully refundable airfare (e.g. Y-class economy) to meet the spending requirement of a CC sign-up bonus? I unberstand there might be clawbacks on the purchase generated rewards after the refund, but what about the sign-up bonus?

Do this more than a few times in a short period and there are reports on FT of getting a nasty backlash from the carriers.

Careful when you ask for refund, they may put the money back to GC/CC used to buy the ticket.

Not just clawbacks, but the carrier will see and boot you from their program.

The trick is to do it with non-refundable fares. They are much cheaper.

Not to mention that you are screwing with an airlines inventory and possibly taking a seat away from someone.
