Prisonmike, he's talking about buying regular GCs with an Amex GC. And he said he can't cause the lady working there won't allow him to buy VGC or any GC with an Amex GC cause it's a prepaid card and not a CC. However since it is run thru as a CC it's not hard coded at the register.

I have had problems and success. However all my problems were when I tried to use a non-personalized GC. They are HUGE sticklers for taking my ID and verifying the name/CC. Also, I have only had success with 1 cashier and the first day I went there, her tag said "trainee". IDK that a manager working that day would be as lenient.

How exactly are you doing 50K SPG points? You mean 4 trips to the mall at $12.5K each or is there a mall bonus category for SPG that I don't know about.

Sounds like a GREAT deal. I can float a fair amount but I always struggle liquidating the gift cards. Any advice?

Liquidating Visa GCs are super easy (though can be time consuming). Do some research around the Manufactured Spending threads and you will find many ideas.

Got shutdown today at Simon Mall. The cashier had to call the manager for approval over $500 (I was doing $2k). Right after I swiped, the manager came over and said that they can't accept Amex GCs b/c of some corporate policy or something since they sell Amex GCs. She said you can't buy Amex GCs with Amex GC. I said I was buying Visa but she said it's still not allowed. Also asked why my card had my name on it (personalized). I tried to lie and said that it's a company bonus. Still didn't work. I kindly thanked them and walked off frustrated. As I was walking off, the cashier asked where I worked. I answered truthfully. Luckily the charge didn't go through so I didn't have to wait 7-8 days. Now to find use more expensive methods to liquidate this card. Guess I'll only use Simon for 1-2% cards if I am desperate.

Gonna try a Glimcher mall in my area this weekend to see if they accept it. If not, GCM or CVS to the rescue.

How do you liquidate Glimcher GC's? I purchased one last week and tried loading to BB with no luck. I searched the forum and from what I understood Glimcher GC's don't work for BB/Serve or MO's.

I have yet to purchase one. I assumed they worked like other Visa debit cards.

Edit: I just did a quick search and a few people mentioned having issues with pin at WM/Krogers. So I guess I should skip this.

Liquidate Glimcher via Evolve. They do not load BB etc even if you set a pin.

This deal is on it's way out. The guy at the kiosk today took down my DL info for a measly $1000 purchase per his manager. Said the gift card provider was working on a way of shutting down MS activities.

was never much of a deal in the first place. lot of hassle, no one has reported being able to buy any substantial amount in aggregate.

Not surprised. I've had cards blocked for too many activations/drains per phone number per day (cards drained fine the next day).
