Any one with experience in payment to these 529 plans? Maybe it's time to open one.... (Only earnings are subject to a withdrawal penalty, so you can take it out immediately without penalty.)

Oh wow, this is promising, but shut down risk would be very high, I'd imagine.

And a tax nightmare.
The real limit here appears to be Evolve's daily limit. Lots and lots of ways to maximize that, but I agree 529's seem promising. |

Believe it or not a lot of 529 publicity actually encourages making deposits and more or less immediate withdrawals for state tax benefits. Shutdown on Evolve's side is a different story.

Well, Im not a lawyer, but from what I read on it, all contributions and distributions from a 529 need to be shown on your taxes. Which would raise questions on why you have 100K in contributions and 100K of disbursements on your 529. (Just using random numbers)
Correct me if im wrong. |

Well I guess you have 14 months to come up with a really good story.

A word to the wise... A few years ago there was a method to fund a 529 plan with a credit card for a small fee that permitted profit with a 5% card. Several people did so in moderate amounts (less than $50,000) but within a few weeks the 529 plan broker reversed the charges creating huge credit balances on the credit card.
So in this case if you funded with a prepaid you better keep very good records in case of a reversal, and I would not touch paypal since a large credit balance there is asking for a freeze. |
What about overpaying a utility, like gas or electric. Anyone have experience doing that through a billpay service? Seems if you pick a heavily regulated utility you should be fine getting a check refund

Tried Evolve money today.
Not happy with their search results. It gives only one page results. If you add more words to key word search to improve search results then to my disappointment, the search results are observed to be based on only the last word and not all words. |
