So, I got hosed by that duplicate payment issue, forgot about it till it hurt, AHH! I need to read more. Now my card is authorized against and cannot use it again. How long till they release my funds? A week?

So, I've read every page in this thread; has anyone found any viable way to use this for mortgage payments over $1000? If so, please detail:

1. Amount
2. How you sent payments
3. Lender you are paying

I have to believe someone has this figured out and this is a heck of a lot easier for me than running to Walmart to buy paper with my Sunny Trusties card.

It sounds like Evolve is planning on increasing this for mortgages at least, so it might make sense to sit tight for now and wait it out.

I tried investing and had mixed results. Returns over 5.5% start to involve too much risk. Yet, I would rather have the extra money as float for my MS. 5.5% annual is 0.46% monthly - which isn't very much (I only have a modest home loan). Having extra float makes MS MUCH easier and enjoyable.

If you don't have much of a mortgage left, get an equity line in second position at prime minus 0.5%, prime, or prime + 0.5%. That means your interest rate will be 2.75% to 3.75%. There are credit unions that will give you the 2.75% with A+ credit. Use Evolve and MS to pay down the mortgage to zero. Use the equity line to replenish your cash balance in one single draw at the beginning (don't trust the bank to not close your line early). Your monthly will be interest only if you don't feel like paying it off for a long time, but check your loan docs to make sure it's not 1% of balance. Your interest will be a lot lower than 5.5%. And you have access to a lot of cheap cash in case of emergencies. Then send me a tip for the money you're saving. LOL Just kidding.

I called Chase, as I have my loan with them as well. They said, that ALL PAYMENTS by default will go towards principal, unless it matches a fee or payment that is due. Takes a day or two, once they get the unknown payemnt, to apply to principal. Will stay blank till then.

I assume this means that unless you have a monthly mortgage statement cut by the bank with your normal P&I amount due, any other payment will be applied to principal? Otherwise sam_goh would have applied $1400 to principal and not satisfied his monthly payment.

Yes, approx. 1 week.

Stretch it over a few days. Mine is just shy of $3000/mo, so I just send $1000/day for three days. My servicer is Greentree, and they apply the payment properly.

Anyone had success with NYCB Mortgage? (new york community bank, mynycb is the website). When adding payee, it says account number not recognized. I tried both 7 digits leaving out the leading zeroes and also 10 digits, but keep getting the same error.

I don't know this for a fact, but I suspect (and plan!) that Chase will "fix" whatever payment you send them as long as you send > X in a month. I don't think they're going to say if you send them 2400 bucks on a 2300 dollar mortgage that you haven't paid the bill.

Wells Fargo does exactly that. They do not accept non-exact payments. Yes, it is stupid and annoying and I hate them for it.

Going to try to submit a single evolve payment with a debit card and cover the rest with another bill pay method to see how Chase handles this - the payments should be delivered on different days. If the automatic accounting system messes this up I guess I can say I fat fingered $200 out of the amount I wanted to pay...

I sent in $100 to Sallie Mae. I have 3 loans under my one account number. The payment was delivered 2/18, according to evolve, but it doesn't show up on Sallie Mae. I guess SM doesn't know how to apply it so I'm guessing it'll get kicked back sometime next week.

I was in a rush this morning and made 2 payments to the same payee within <6mins :(

Does anyone know how long my MSGC fund will be held?

HikerT Feb 21, 2014 10:15 pm

Took 1 week for the temp auth to fall off here.

Sent Chase 2 payments - one through evolve for $200 one via BB with the rest. BB payment made it in first and was held (i.e., not applied to P&I or just P) until the evolve payment made it in, which then all the funds got applied to P&I.
