This is the thread for posts through 2016. The new thread for 2017 is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1826119-billpay-walmart-2017-a.html
Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register.
It must be done at Customer Service/Returns.
Or at the Money Center in stores that have it.
BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST
--------------------------------------------------------------
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.
Once your CFP account is set up, you can add cc. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services.
ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction.
ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
--------------------------------------------
:-:VISA and MC
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."
"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.
Following do not work:

I went to a WM money center to pay my CC bill for the first time and the rep said she need the actual bill so she can scan and then I can pay. I just had my CC with me and thought the CC# should be enough.
Do I really need the bill or it was just ignorance on the part of the lady behind the counter?

I was loading BB yesterday and got the "tender not allowed" error. I had the cashier do it again and I told her to wait till I enter all my info and to hit debit, then it went through. Some cashiers try to hit buttons too early and it screws things up.

I haven't been able to load my BB at WM with either OV or VGC for about a week, maybe a little bit more. It'll say something is wrong with the payment. I'll try again, same thing. Then, I'll go to buy a money order with the same exact card and it works. What's the deal? Has anybody else had this issue?
What are the load fees for the WMvGC?

Just got done with a wmbp run. 1998 on 4 swipes. I went to a neighborhood market and when I attempted my first swipe, I got a debit not available error. Tried swiping a different card and got the same error. I could see that was an error code 51. The clerk and I couldn't figure out what the problem was, so I just cancelled the transaction and drove to a different walmart where I had no problems at all.

I have very basic question. Do we need to wait for transaction to post to the card before doing BillPay or I can buy OV card from CVS and go to Walmart same day to do BP.

Even if I could do it according to the CC issuer thats the very last thing Id ever do. Cant think of a better way to call attention to oneself then buying and paying it all off on the same day. So even before its a permanent charge you want to pay it off

Your payment could come sooner than the purchase transaction post. Not a big deal though. Your CC account will have negative balance for awhile.

Some banks seem to frown on prepaying like this *much* more than others. From what I've read Citi doesn't seem to mind much, AmEx may... actively discourage you depending on frequency & Wells Fargo may just close your account. As always your mileage may vary.

Quick update. Earlier today I could not do a 1998 BP at WM. I got a error 01 and 05 using WM VGC.
Later I went to WM#1 and had no issues.
