Seems like it's time for PayPal to join the multi-factor authentication crowd.

You mean the "$30 for a two-factor auth" crowd?

It is free if you use your phone. You can make it so that after you sign in with your email and password, PayPal texts you a security code. This feature is free, but there is a limit of one account per phone.

Besides online Serve loading and regular purchases, there are no other "fee-free" ways to take advantage of that 1% on signature purchases using the Debit card, right?

I have a question. Does load 500 paypal my cash card consider in the 200/20000 limit for paypal tax file?

Chime.

Apologies if this has already been covered; I read the first 20 and last 20 pages, and searched to the best of my ability, and I didn't see mention of this.

I plan to open a new business account for the debit card rather than upgrade my existing personal account; is this generally discouraged? Also, when a shutdown occurs, does it affect only the business account, or does it freeze the main personal account as well? As much as I dislike PP, I still sometimes need to buy things from eBay...

For reference, I'm looking to liquidate with PIN transactions only (no ACH withdrawals or other transfers).

I did exactly what you plan, has worked well for the last year. I can't think of any major downsides. Can never be sure with PP but my personal account is so old I'm not sure if they have my full SSN but they do have the last four so I don't want to jeopardize a 10 year-old PP acct.

How risky is loading Serve with a PP debit card?

nnugnotsle Aug 29, 2014 11:35 am

Level 2 risk.

So that would be a medium risk?

I'm thinking this card is only worth using after serve has been maxed out for the month with VGC and CC loads? End of the month would be PP loaded with PPC then cash out with chime, mo's and some small spend sprinkled in.

I'm just a newbie but this is what I have concluded from reading this board. Is this about right?

It could be Level 3, depending on the newness of your PP acct. But then again, if it's seasoned, it could be Level 1.

Should we put all the levels in the wiki, or expect people to read?

I've been doing it for one month and haven't had any issues, but I have a long history with them and didn't max it out either. The most valuable piece is that you can do $1k online with paypal debit card, and walk into walmart and confidently load your serve cuz the paypal debit card has your name on it. I did probably $3k last month no freezes or anything.

I also opened up a new paypal business account to diversify the load a bit. Do my long standing account online and the business one at walmart.

I've noticed in my area(So Cal) buying the My Cash cards is very cashier dependent. There are probably 50 CVS within a 20 mike radius here and everyone that I have been able to buy the My Cash with CC is only successful about 2 out of 5 tries and it is solely dependant on the cashier. Makes for too many dam trips to get 2 of them.

If any one out there has a tip on a good one in the So Cal area for My Cash cards a PM would be much appreciated.
