Dropping last segment

I'm considering dropping the last segment of a LHR-KUL-PNH ticket, and instead flying KUL-HKG on MH on a new ticket. The connection from PNH to HKG just doesn't work.

Anyone had problems with this in the past? I'm only concerned because the HKG flight leaves after the PNH flight so if I'm sitting in the lounge, might they call me to get on the PNH flight?

I wouldn't know what are the consequence should the airline find that you are requesting 2 x boarding passes to different destinations departing from the same city (KUL)

However if you are flying MH you should be able to add a stop over (few days out) for only RM150 on your last segment. This should also allow you to through check your bags from LHR to HKG assuming you are on the same carrier.

Is this your outbound flight? Do you have a return ticket - if so the rest of the ticket will be cancelled if you do not use ticket coupons in order. I've managed before to have the final destination changed but not on MH so it possible.

It all depends on the ticket...

Change fees will be different from different markets.

I was at the end of my ticket from PEK-KUL-BKK yesterday. I didn't want to go to BKK, so I just skipped it but I did tell the foul faced ticket agent why...Original flight was delayed so that was my excuse that I didn't want to go on it.

I had HBO and had already printed out my next flight to PEN and went to immigration and then to the domestic lounge no problem.

No one really cares about you skipping one leg once a year, plans change all the time.

I've just received a text message from MH:
RM0 YR FLT MH185/09MAY IS CHANGED TO MH185/10MAY,DEP KUL/11:05PM AR R CMB/11:55PM.VISIT WEB/CALL 1300883000/60378433000 *MALAYSIA AIRLINES

MH decided to move my flight 24 hours later, which I needed to skip anyway, any chance for me to cancel it and get airport tax or maybe even partial fare refund?

I think TGflyergirl answered your question a few months ago.

Your ticket isn't actually calculated based on the number of segments you have, so asking for one segment to be cancelled will NOT result in you getting any money back.

You could try and move the date within the validity of your ticket if you need to go cmb later, but thats about it.

Few months ago it was a schedule change of couple of hours, now it would be a totally different date....and when I booked for 9th May, why would I want to travel on 10th?

Your ticket will reprice if you call to cancel and you will have to pay more than what you are owed in terms of refund, Also MH can accommodate you to fly on the 9th by re-booking you on Sri Lankan, so your reasoning such as above wont really work.

Just got off from the phone with MH. They do not want to rebook me with Sri Lankan and they could only rebook me to another MH flight within 1 day (+- 1 day) of my original flight.

however, the agent was able to cancel my booking and leave my ticket open. I could rebook to any other dates later with a rebooking fee of around US$65.

I guess I could start hunting for another ex-CMB promo fare.
