It was based on an (originally) poorly written FAQ on MH website about which lounge an MH ticketed pax could use when flying Emirates.

That FAQ on lounge access has since been re-written to be more explicit on lounge entitlement.
The old text was causing confusions all around and suggested that MH elite pax could access EK lounges ala QF-EK partnership reciprocity, regardless of class flown or what the operating carrier was.

With QF relocating its LHR transit point to SIN and 3 A380s departing daily, plus some A330s, I guess the QF lounge will become really busy.
